A couple of years ago, I started communicating with him about a couple of Kansas City bands he liked. In the spirit of musical friendliness and cooperation, I made him two CDs with the understanding that he would make me a mix CD in return. I sent him the CDs along with photos I had taken of the bands, and I think I put together a nice little package. In return, he did nothing. I wrote to him after a looooong time to remind him of his part of the bargain, and he wrote back saying it was in the works. Then nothing. I wrote again after another looooong wait, and his email address had been cancelled. So I'm letting you know, don't trust this guy and absolutely DO NOT agree to any trades with him. That's all. - Greg B. > > Hi you all, > > It just came to my attention that C.J. I'm glad I did. She started her set off with an a cappella song which established her power as a singer, but didn't immediately tell me anything about the style of her music. From there she went into something that made me think, "OK, a little like Swing Out Sister. Hm." But from there she went off in an Emily Bezar-like direction (thanks, Karen, for pointing this out). As the set went on, though, I kept thinking, "Isn't that a little shoegaze I'm hearing in there?" Her last song, "Rapture" was loud and intense, and unmistakably Cocteau Twins-influenced. Have a listen here: http://www.myspace.com/elainelachica Afterwards she told me that Liz Fraser was one of the reasons she became a singer. I'm sold. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V14 #287 ***************************
