[Paul Blair Subject: Meredith Meyer hits the Big Apple Just got a note from Meredith Meyer that she's heading to NYC to promote her latest record, "It's Spooky To Be Young":B "The record was produced by Bill Racine, and I'm supported by the awesomeness of Tom Dunne on drums, Andrew Carter on cello, and Vic Artur Ruiz on the bass. The record has begun to make its merry little way into the world and is picking up some great notice". It's a somber and moody piece, but it's chock full o' atmosphere and is wonderfully accomplished. My main grumble with her beautiful debut a couple of years back was that she tended to sing out of her range and style, but she's tailored it perfectly here and has definitely matured. It reminded me a bit of Aimee Mann singing Lida Husik's more accessible pieces, but I'm not sure that this is either fair or accurate. I've no idea how she is live -- my guess is it will be a long time before she makes it over here -- but I thoroughly recommend any NYC ectos go see her while she's around and ectos to buy the album. It works a slow magic on you, I swear. Adam K ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Oct 2009 21:26:05 -0400 From: Paul Blair Subject: Damn.
