Someone started an obscure/arcana thread a few weeks ago, and now I'm hooked on Tychonaut's "This Is..." Does anyone know where to find their second release, "Love Life", plus Plague Monkeys several (prior) releases? "This Is..." is very rewarding (if a little out there), but don't bother if you have cheap electronics. It's very well produced, but subtle. Unicorn Kid came on first and I was pleasantly surprised as he did a techno-pop set that was highly energized like Moby. He is only 17 and is from Scotland and did a great performance. Then Kate had to follow him and most of the audience talked over her concert or went to refresh their soda or energy drinks. It's a shame that a wonderful talent like Kate is on the wrong program! Kate had to "remind" the audience that she was starting her concert. She did a 1/2 hour set (I don't blame her) which was very good including an accapella version of 'Unlike Me". I met Kate afterward (photos, etc) and she was very nice and cool about the whole evening. Perhaps I'll get to see her another time when her music can be heard and appreciated. Take care, tom m. Nov 15th - Dec 6th. Kicks off in Dallas, TX on the 15th. For Philly I am looking at World Cafe Live (or some place like it for audience) for Nov 22nd. If not, have you ever been to Pontiac Grill 304 South St. in Philly?? or would you have any other recommendations? MilkBoy? We are looking for venues for her in the 75 - 200 seat range. Hotel Cafe - World Cafe kinda crowd. Oli (unicorn kid) is very talented and is Kate's tour travel companion The audience also has a teen christian audience due to Owl City and they can really be a problem, as they are infamous for being rude and ignoring non christian acts....on the same bill. It's a problem that goes back to at least, for sure Amy Grant. Let me know If you have any other place in mind in the Philly area for her. I'll keep you posted. I didn't have anything to do with this current tour, as it was set up awhile ago, but am out of the hospital & nursing facility I was in and am able to give her a hand now... So, hope to make up for things on the next go around. She is just starting to tour here and her album will be out early next year.... So, she is just getting her toe in, and her agency booked it. More better to come - thanks so much for the report :-) cheers Birdie On Sep 21, 2009, at 6:25 PM, Tom Masapollo wrote: > Hi Birdie, > > I saw Kate H. the other night at the Note in West Chester, PA and I > totally > agree with you about > how she was put in a line up with a teen audience. > Unicorn Kid came on first and I was pleasantly surprised as he did a > techno-pop set that was > highly energized like Moby.
