I downloaded her debut off emusic and have been listening to it a lot the past few days. Her voice and melodies remind me A LOT of early Kate Bush although Laura's approach is more folksy and less theatrical. A bit like Joanna Newsom, perhaps, or PJ Harvey around White Chalk (which I happen to love). I am especially fond of her pastoral ballads I "Wish I.." and "Greatest Thoughts" along with the PJ-sounding "Rebecca." There are several tracks up on her MySpace-page: http://www.myspace.com/musicofblueroses And here's a favourable review: http://www.musicomh.com/albums/blue-roses_0309.htm I can't recommend her enough, really. If you like what you hear be sure to check out Austrian Soap & Skin. That's seriously the best gothic-infused piano-pop around. All best, Leonora "I never go outside unless I look like Joan Crawford the movie star. If you want to see the girl next door, go next door" (Joan Crawford) www.leonorachristinaskov.blogspot.com _________________________________________________________________ Word Up!
