Whilst trolling YouTube for some video nostalgia, I stumbled across this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpMGWOAAKs4&NR=1 (Visuals aren't anything, it's mainly just an MP3) I knew KaTe had done something on a Donal Lunny album, but I had somehow missed that it was "Mna na hIireann" (Women of Ireland). So when I clicked on it and her voice started singing the Gaelic interlude that appears at the end of Susan McKeown's classic song "Snakes", I just about fell off the couch. How did I not make that connection before?! Pardon me, I'll just be handing my KaTefan badge back now... - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Jul 2009 11:19:16 -0400 From: Aly Fields Subject: Re: in which i crawl out from under the rock where i've clearly been living Womp womp! The others I don't know but I hear that Indigo Street is quite accomplished and that Ed Pastorini is a musician's musician. I haven't heard enough to make a judgment yet. You can find them here: http://www.101crustaceans.com/ http://www.myspace.com/101crustaceans Faith Helma - She puts on a one-woman performance called "Undine"; there's a 9-minute highlight video here: http://www.vimeo.com/5534699 More info here: http://www.portlandmercury.com/portland/no-happily-ever-after/Content?oid=1131614 MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/faithhelma "Undine" has its next performance in NYC at the "Ontological-Hysteric Incubator" (St. Mark's Church) on August 25. No word on the Crustaceans' next performance. Oh, and I shouldn't forget to mention that Rachael Sage's performance this evening was also a lot of fun. It was apparently a warm-up gig for when she brings "Sequins & Shpiel" to Edinburgh's Fringe Festival in early August. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V14 #210 ***************************
