But, I do see a lot of reviews from, shall we say, less sophisticated, listeners, sadly including some "professional" reviewers with simplistic absolutist such as "She sold out!" or the opposite "This album sounds like the last one, boooring! She NEEDS to evolve!" I think there is a failure on these people's part to distinguish what they want and like from what the artist themselves may want and perhaps need and the elevation of a very subjective opinion into a quasi-factual statement. Sorry for getting off on a bit of a tangent here but this is something that irks me. Especially when it shows up in "professional" reviews. Mike Karen Hester wrote: > I disagree. Hi, Ok, so I got the Happy bug a few years ago, and have since gulped up (roughly) everything she's ever done, including buying her latest at least twice in order to support her. Why? Because now I'm bored. I try other Ecto artists in order to fill the gap, and yeah, even digest some old godesses (Tori, Kate), but ... they leave me somewhat empty, like being Norwegian and living in Australia eating Australian bread. I'm still hungry. I've bought Noe's various projects and love them, but there's a Happy gap that just becomes more evident the more time goes by. I find Veda, Sarah and Jane ... er, well, not up to scratch. The Happy melancholy matches mine, and I NEED MY FIX! Space Dog. um, lots of songs i am now forgetting. the goofy cover of the day was "...Baby One More Time", but her version wasn't nearly as good as Richard Thomson's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAS4ltt7DzI i am just fine with AAtS as an album. i will confess, there's not a single Tori album that i listen to all the way through. it's all playlists for me, Tori-wise, and the new album added several songs to the list of keepers. several good songs is better than not, the way i see it. so, sure, listen through to the end just once.
