I actually think the movie itself is very well done (and certainly worth seeing) in many respects but the ending is an absolute travesty compared to the book. They took one of the most dramatic moments out and they also didn't have the original ending which would have been beautiful and really set up the next movie. They had planned to open the next movie with these scenes after people were confused by the original ending in audience tests. The funny thing about the Golden Compass is that it did extremely well abroad. I think it made over 300 million there. It was only in the US that it tanked. I suppose that the church might have had a bit to do with it... but I'm a little doubtful. I think it had more to do with the marketing of the movie and the timing of it's release. Actually according to that Wiki she does write her own stuff which already puts her way above most pop singers in my esteem. I listened to that "Poker Face" song. It's OK, not something I'm going to get the urge to listen to often even as a guilty pleasure but I can see how some people might like it. What really pisses me off are people like Britney who can't sing (see discussion from last week), can't write a song, don't play an instrument but still get famous because some people think they're "hawt" or they do stupid celubutard things to draw attention to themselves. If people write their own music or have some amazing vocal talents I have no problem with them getting famous whether or not I really dig their music. birdie wrote: > here is the guy behind, Lady Gaga.... > > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Fusari > > > > > On Jul 6, 2009, at 10:38 AM, Aly Fields wrote: > >> She really does have this performance art sort of way about her.
