I was never a big fan of Peter Frampton's music for the most part, hitting the station knob whenever "Baby I Love Your Way" hit the radio. However, I will always have a fondness for him based on his involvement with one of my all-time favorite films, Almost Famous. He worked as a consultant/songwriter/actor on that movie. He played Reg who if I recall correctly was the band manager for Humble Pie. It was just one scene, but his work on the music in the movie that I absolutely love is what I most enjoyed. Hate to say it, but yeah, that's a pretty big rock. It's my favorite KaTe b-side and one of my favorite of her songs altogether! It's made it onto a number of CD releases, including the This Woman's Work box set and the EMI 100 release of _Hounds of Love_. Can't recall if I have it on 7" somewhere as well (I have either that or "December Will Be Magic Again" on 7" in storage; possibly both, I suppose!) And yeah, it makes me cry. jeff ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Jul 2009 17:50:54 -0400 (EDT) From: Bernie Mojzes Subject: Re: KATE *smile* this has been one of my favorite kate bush songs since... gods, since way way long ago. i need to get my turntable fixed. > maybe i've been living under a freaken rock, but i just discovered > this b-side and it brings me to tears. it's heartbreaking! had to > snatch up a 7" on eBay right quick. > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj7pRs6rHCI > sharon > - -- brni i don't want the world, i just want your half. http://www.kappamaki.com/ http://brni.livejournal.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Jul 2009 14:49:35 -0700 From: birdie Subject: Re: KATE it was originally the B side to "Running up that Hill" On Jul 5, 2009, at 2:33 PM, Jeffrey Burka wrote: > Sharon sez: > >> maybe i've been living under a freaken rock, but i just discovered >> this b-side and it brings me to tears. > > Hate to say it, but yeah, that's a pretty big rock. Cute. I'd never heard the song before a few weeks ago when Casey Stratton covered it on his podcast. Thought it was mediocre at the time...then I heard the original on the radio a few days ago and realized that he'd done an awful lot with some pretty wretched material. Speaking of Casey Stratton, folks 'round here might be interested in a cover of Jane Siberry's "Love is Everything" from _When I Was a Boy_ on his most recent podcast: http://www.caseystratton.com/podcasts/CaseyStrattonPodcast.07.01.09.mp3 jeff ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V14 #183 ***************************
