I worked for the director, godfrey reggio and later Island Alive. West coast premiere was at The Castro...live show a few years later at UCLA's Royce Hall... And if you're not, why >> aren't you? :) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Apr 2009 00:34:02 -0400 From: "robert bristow-johnson" Subject: any other ectophiles see Vienna Teng in Somerville MA? i didn't see anyone i recognized (like Jeff W). this was truly an "impulse purchase" for me. at 7 pm, i was looking at the Improper Bostonian and saw that Vienna was playing at the Somerville Theatre at 7:30. so i jumped into my car (in Waltham) and even exceeded the rude drivers of the Boston area and got to the gig only about 15 minutes late. she's good, but less otherworldly or more conventional that, say, Happy or Noe or the Two Loons for Tea (my current interest). i would say that Vienna is on the fringe of ecto. she's definitely an accomplished pianist and songwriter and it was a pleasant concert. her speaking voice sounds a lot like Happy's speaking voice and, like Happy, she connects well to her audience. i was talking with one of the musicians (Alex Wong) and he said that Noe performed in Vienna's last album. perhaps someone else pointed that out here, but i'm so clueless, i missed it. bye, - -- r b-j rbj@audioimagination.com "Imagination is more important than knowledge." ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V14 #95 **************************
