Today's Subjects: ----------------- sxsw [paul kim ] Today's your birthday, friends... [Mike Matthews ] was sxsw - sara bareilles hotel cafe and tour [birdie Subject: sxsw Hey Paul and ecto, I won't be going to SXSW, but I did take a look at the lineup and noticed some interesting stuff: - -old friends from Berklee are dotting the landscape, including Sylvie Lewis on Saturday, Carrie Rodriguez on Thursday, and Kyler England and Adrianne in their group The Rescues on multiple days. I know that you can also catch Sylvie and The Rescues in the same hour block during an unofficial SXSW showcase "Spin It Indie" Friday night www.myspace.com/spinitindieatsxsw you'll find a lot of the people at that showcase also involved with the Hotel Cafe showcases (some interesting lineups they're having...i wonder who their special guests will be) over the course of the weekend. - - one-girl-band theresa andersson (who birdie championed the hell out of earlier this year, convincing me to see her last show at the hotel cafe and boy was birdie right) is doing showcases on wed and fri - - the experimental emily wells has showcases on thurs and fri - - tori amos is playing :) as is PJ Harvey (followed by the Indigo Girls, then Third Eye Blind [huh?!]) - - on the sweet singer-songwriter girls side, you have Meiko, Po Girl, Oh Susanna - - i'd go see Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, simply because i like his/their name - - L.A. bands Casteldoor and The Happy Hallows are pretty good (and get uberlurker gperez's thumbsup) paulkim (2 weeks, 2 days) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Mar 2009 03:00:02 -0400 (EDT) From: Mike Matthews Subject: Today's your birthday, friends... i*i*i*i*i*i i*i*i*i*i*i *************** *****HAPPY********* **************BIRTHDAY********* *************************************************** *************************************************************************** ********************* kIrI Hargie (no Email address) ********************** ********************** Bob Dreano (no Email address) ********************** *************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- kIrI Hargie Fri March 13 1970 Pisces Bob Dreano Thu March 13 1958 Pisces Randall K. I was reminded of a young Laura Nyro, when she was full of fire and not as laid back and cool...as she was later in life... she's at the cafe again tonight, it's incrediable to see that level of talent in a small venue, and as she and the band have been on a bigger tour for quite awhile, they are a comfortably very tight unit, and really a treat to hear... There may be more tix avail at the door, and if you check her myspace, she has dates all over popping up... It was really a pleasure see someone SO talented (she is totally off the hook) with such a great band and in such an intimate setting.... I have a few pix up (very last set, go to the last page) in my Hotel Cafe folder www.myspace.com/birdiepix birdie On Mar 12, 2009, at 11:47 PM, paul kim wrote: > Hey Paul and ecto, > > I won't be going to SXSW, but I did take a look at the lineup and > noticed > some interesting stuff: > -old friends from Berklee are dotting the landscape, including > Sylvie Lewis > on Saturday, Carrie Rodriguez on Thursday, and Kyler England and > Adrianne in > their group The Rescues on multiple days.
