He was only 60. While his music became a little spotty over time he was always an excellent (and innovative) singer and guitarist. In his heyday (the 70's) he put out an impressive string of great albums. Back then he was as good a songwriter as anyone (imho). Nick Drake fans are no doubt aware of his work. It's always sad to lose a great one but it really sucks to lose one of your all time favorite artists. H will be sorely missed np: John and Beverly Martyn- Road to Ruin ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 31 Jan 2009 06:49:26 -0800 (PST) From: Craig Gidney Subject: Chloe March, "Divining" I found this British artist's work while searching around on CDBaby. It's a gorgeous semi concept album water imagery being the central conceit. Her voice is a smooth silky alto and her hypnotic compositions are drenched in misty synth orchestrations, Satie-piano pieces, wind chimes, French horns and harps. She weaves her voice like Enya, with a hint of jazz--like the singer from Basque. The whole thing reminds me of the work Virginia Astley did with Ryiuchi Sakamoto. *Highly recommended* for lovers of ethereal dream pop. http://www.chloemarch.co.uk/ http://craiglaurancegidney.wordpress.com ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V14 #30 **************************
