Robert Conrad did little voice-over commentaries over the menus for each episode... and he sounds like someone's old granddad. i think video would have been less shocking - -- you'd see through his current appearance to the way he looked back when... i was watching those videos at my folks' house, with my seventy-two year old dad and my eight year old niece, and me ticking over to forty-seven. age don't mean a thing, is what, and the past is warpaint. Congratulations Criag! I'm happy to see the book is also avaliable in a kindle edition! Looking forward to reading it. I Meant to do that when your book was first mentioned on the list, Craig, but forgot. Also, in terms of Amazon shopping.... Some shameless promotion--as many of you know, our own Neal Copperman has taken what we started with the house concerts, and formed his own promotion company which has grown by leaps and bounds and became an official 501(c)3 non-profit last year. One of the perks of Amazon is it will donate portions of purchases to non-profits if the shoppers enter the Amazon website via a link from the non-profit. Therefore I encourage all of you to change your favorites "Amazon" link to www.ampconcerts.org, and link to amazon from the top of its home page whenever you buy. Its a great easy way to help out a non-profit doing great things for the music community in Albuquerque, but also helps ensure some of your faovrite touring artists get paid decently when they play here, helps ensure big events like Globalquerque continue to happen, etc. Being a concert promoter, particularly for the kinds of artists AMP presents, is anything but a lucrative career, and the organization depends on various ways of raising funds, including fundraisers such as the Amazon link, grants, memberships, etc. And yes I am a volunteer board member so in a way this is blatant self-promotion but it is an easy way to support a great organization, and I know Neal would probably never ask himself. Thanks for the plugs Jeff! (And congrats on the review Craig.) We'll keep you on as board president now :) And we promise to use all ecto funds to pay for web design by fellow ectophile Sue Trowbridge :) We do have some nice festival videos that include some ecto friendly artists like Mor Karbasi and Savina Yannatou from 2008, and Yungchen Lhamo, Marta Gomez and Fiamma Fumana from 2007. Bob knows what he's a-talkin' about. For those CDs which are in my collection, I agree with his comments. Incidentally, I can only think of one omission to the list that has generally been acclaimed as a good mastering job: Dire Straits' _Brothers In Arms_ (the 1980s original release). I used it as a test CD for a long time. Apparently the recent remastering has done some damage to the dynamics though. :-( - -- - -- | Greg Dunn | "And I don't think it's my | | gregdunn@indy.net | fault... you never get what | | The Sultan of Slack(tm) | you want." | | http://www.indy.net/~gregdunn/ | Patty Griffin | ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V14 #14 **************************
