Brilliant song! Some of the other songs on this album are also very good ("Midnight Radio, Holly Tree...) I've listened to and quite liked some of her older music in the past and liked it. I'll have to revisit her other material now. :) - ----- Original Message ----- From: "meredith" To: "ecto" Sent: Tuesday, October 21, 2008 11:47 PM Subject: Re: Dar's 'Promised Land' > Hi, > > Karen Hester wrote: >> I'm enjoying Dar Williams' 'Promised Land' heaps. > > Me too -- though I need to get it onto my iPod, so I can listen to it > more. > >> I've barely listened to any Dar since 'End of the summer'. Meredith :) - -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Philadelphia tonight and NYC this weekend Date: Wed, 22 Oct 2008 09:56:09 -0400 From: Wendy Rule Reply-To: wendy@wendyrule.com To: Friend Hello sweet friends Welcome to all the new fans I've just added. I've just spent two days riding roller coasters in Florida, which was great fun and very surreal! This is just a very quick note to let you know that the concert that was canceled in Philadelphia tonight has been replaced with a house concert. So, yes, it's back on, and you just need to email me if you'd like the address, and I'll get back to you this afternoon. It will be held in Palmyra, NJ, and starts at 7.30. And I have one of my favourite gig this Sunday in New York City. Its at the gorgeous cafe Vivaldi in Greenwich Village and starts at 7pm. With Halloween so close we've decided to celebrate and make the gig a dress up party. Let your friends know. Although the concert is by donation, you need to make a dinner reservation to reserve a seat (it's a delicious set menu for $25). Here's the details Sunday October 26^th Caffe Vivaldi 7.30 -11pm 32, Jones Street , Greenwich Village (Off Bleecker Street, near Seventh Avenue) 212 691 7538 Oh, and here's the link again for the MP3 download for my new album Beneath the Below is a River Sorry for such a rushed letter, I'm about to catch (another!) flight. A few days ago I had The Red Shoes in, and while I must concur with Meth's fairly pungent assessment, or at least that has been my view up to now, I found myself enjoying it nonetheless. I still don't know how a musical genius of Kate's proportions can include "songs" like "Constellation of the Heart" and "Top of the City" on a CD and expect to get away with it, but even "Why Should I Love You" I don't mind. I try to imagine Lenny Henry singing the backing vocals, which may help. I agree also about Aerial being a renaissance. One of my all time favourites. I think Tori Amos suffers from this condition more though. I wasn't all that big on Little Earthquakes, but tried to like it once I had gotten into Under the Pink. Then Boys For Pele didn't do anything for me at all, and I drifted a lot until some of the more recent ones. I still buy them and try to like them though.
