They played mostly new stuff I hadn't heard before, including a Brazz-Tree-ized version of Otis Redding's "The Dock of the Bay" which worked remarkably well. (This will appear on some kind of compilation but apparently it's not out yet.) I also discovered they'd released a stealth EP back in January while I wasn't looking. Their next date in NYC is at the Rockwood Music Hall on Monday; I recommend it. They're also touring a lot in the Midwest, Northeast, and Florida; see schedule here: http://www.myspace.com/brazztree Last night I saw Basia Bulat at Highline Ballroom. She's still peppy, with lots of march rhythms that sometimes make me think of a rabbit loose in the bass drum. Canadian, too. I like it. http://www.myspace.com/basiamyspace ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Sep 2008 10:20:58 -0400 From: Jeff Wasilko Subject: new McKinley cd McKinley (who used to share a label w/ Happy) released a new CD: http://cdbaby.com/cd/mckinley08 The first listen of the samples has the cd sounding as good as her previous work... - -j ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Sep 2008 13:59:22 -0500 From: "Amy-Collected Sounds" Subject: re: ecto-digest V13 #606 I agree 100% with Marcel. They hardly agree on anything from what I've seen. And Palin scares the bejezus out of me. It's said that her only experience in international affairs is that she has travelled from Alaska to Washington via this country. Besides, i wouldn't trust anyone who named her children Track, Trig, Bristol, Willow and Piper. Well, that's my two cents (in Canadian money). I would really admire Palin if she'd named Willow after the character on "Buffy," but I think the daughter predates the show! Off to Day 2 of Globalquerque! Neal Copperman and his producing partner Tom have outdone themselves this year. They've already saved the dates for next year's festival (Sept. 25 & 26) and it would be nice to see some more ectos here in New Mexico then! :) - --Sue ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Sep 2008 20:08:39 -0400 From: "Richard Messum" Subject: Re: ecto-digest V13 #606 Evidently not, according to my warped and / or antiquated criterion.
