As an avid sirius-phile, my fave music station is iceberg (now 85 but used to be 95) which is 100% canadian musique. Yes, it's not all ecto, but there are enuf things on there that I never hear anywhere else... My current fave is Chantal Kreviachuk Never heard of her anywhere but there. A close second is all of Dallas Green's stuff (City and Colour -- best band name ever ;-). Mighty fine. Of course I am canadian, so only slightly biased... - -mjm ________________________________ Michael Mendelson Email mjmjminla@yahoo.com IM AIM,GoogleTalk,ICQ mjmjminla WinLiveMesngr mjmjminla@yahoo.com Voice home 310-876-9711 cell 310-995-1319 office 626-775-3856 fax 626-775-3701 ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2008 16:40:34 +1000 From: Andrew Fries Subject: Re: ecto radio [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED] Amanda Williams wrote: > "Jill Hughes" > said: > I most often listen to the Chill channel on Sirius radio, and I used to > listen to Starstreams online, but I'd like recommendations for other > ecto-friendly online or satellite radio stations. > > What are your favorites? > > Jill :D > > We get Groove Salad streamed and we don't have to pay for it with our ISP > (internode), and it's nice and laid back as well. It's nice being told > you're loved by your radio station ;-) Hi to another internode user - it's a small world! :) As for the radio stations, I'll use this as an opportunity to plug two of Sydney's 'underground' or community radio stations, both of which have streams available online 2SER at http://www.2ser.com/ and FBi at http://www.fbi.org.au/ They are not ecto in their charter, but they can be at times. As with any community station with no set playlists what you get is a matter of pot luck, but that's also part of the appeal. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2008 02:29:28 -0400 From: morayati@email.unc.edu Subject: Re: MA people - Dar, Sam Phillips Yes!! Neile may remember the original mid-70's Seattle radio station at 92.5 on your FM dial. It was great! KZAM (pronounced Kazam, rhyming with Shazam!) was the best radio I'd heard north of SF. Similar 60's undergound programming as KMPX and KSAN had. And it was very women friendly. Shelley Morrison was my favorite DJ, then Bruce Boles after she left. And Marion Seymour was a late night fave, she's the person who turned me on to Rahsaan Roland Kirk. He's still my favorite musician. She played a song of his, Goodbye Porkpie Hat, that sent me on a 20 year trip searching for it on media. Finally found it when Joel Dorn re-released "The Return of the 5000 lb. Man". The web version of KZAM is pretty good, plays a fair selection of folks mentioned here on the Ecto list. And my musical tastes are broad enough that I like most of what they play.
