I meant to post a few days ago when Kevin had a bulletin about it up from his MySpace account. And now the bulletin(s) are gone. Only the blog info about being able to order from CDBaby or the label, but nothing up on either site yet. But! He has "God's Little Do Over" from the album up on his MySpace music player: http://www.myspace.com/kevinbartlettmusic Will that help the pain? (She told me this was coming but I'm happy to see it official and public. :) ***** New album out in July Thanks to the efforts of my small but lovingly dedicated confectionery team, I will finally release a new album called "Exchange" in July 2008! Actually, though I think the sugar content in this one is quite low (leaning more towards nuts and chews than whipped cream and cherries?), making records seems a lot like creating a complex dessert in a flour and egg-spattered kitchen....the chemistry is as important as the taste-testing.... And I want to let you know that all SEVEN (maybe more!) of us will present our CD release show at the Cafe du Nord in San Francisco on Tuesday, July 29th. Details to follow and a new website to be revealed this summer. Thanks to every single one of you who inquired about my new music along the way and asked when I'd make a new record...you played a huge role in this thing getting made......your words mean everything to me and I'm honored to have your ears. xo and see you in July Emily - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 May 2008 11:54:55 -0700 (PDT) From: Craig Gidney Subject: Re: New Emily Bezar Album Coming cool info...I really enjoyed seeing Emily live years ago in Berkeley.... Emily is an awesome person and a brilliant artist. Emily mentioned to me earlier this year that she was hunkering down in the studio. Because Emily has those prog and jazz elements in her music I am especially drawn to what she does. I always viewed Emily's music as kind of Kate Bush meets King Crimson meets Keith Jarrett. A very eclectic and thoroughly satisfying blend of styles. Shelly DeForte and I met with Emily about two months before Ectofest West when she performed at Mills College in Oakland (incredible show). We were trying to add her to the EFW bill. She really wanted to be there but reluctantly had to decline because she was already booked for a tour on the East Coast. She promised that, if we gave her enough notice, that she would perform at the next EFW. Well here we are almost seven years (EFW was in June 2001) later and because of events in the lives of Happy, Shelly, Phil Hudson and Billi and I it is doubtful that we will ever be able to conjure up another EFW. It's a good thing the Ectofest tradition still is alive and well on the East Coast. A friend of mine just bought a beautiful home in Fresno that has a very large backyard with a gazebo. I have been trying to convince him about how great it would be to host some house concerts there. He is very open to the idea. I mentioned this briefly to both Emily and Terami. They seemed receptive. So who knows...? I can always dream, can't I? - -----Original Message----- From: owner-ecto@smoe.org [mailto:owner-ecto@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Tim Jones-Yelvington Sent: Monday, May 05, 2008 2:12 PM To: meth@smoe.org; ecto Subject: Re: New Emily Bezar Album Coming >From what little I know, the material promises to be very close to the bone, emotionally speaking, and probably quite wrenching. He doesn't himself have any copies yet (otherwise I'd have one!); he said he should be getting them this week. His MySpace blog says: "The manufacturer predicts completion of the project on May 7th. Then there's the big brown truck and we're off to the races. "CD baby requires some copies for stock and the scanning of artwork, etc, as do the other outlets. So if you just can't stand the wait (and why couldn't you after all this time) they'll be available from the label at $17.99 + 2.00 for the postage and packaging. "Slightly higher overseas of course." Aural Gratification is indeed the label for this release. Paul n.p. "God's Little Do Over" on Kevin's MySpace -- thanks for pointing that out, Carolyn!
