It *is* possible to enjoy Happy and be a part of this mailing list without liking her current work. (I have not heard the album yet and therefore cannot comment on it specifically). Surely all the Tori discussion over the past several albums illustrates that possibility. If you are looking for Happy drones, who mindlessly plug Happy (regardless of their opinion about the new album), I think you are looking for a different group of folk. Perhaps a marketing or PR group? I understand your passion, Vickie, but it is unfair to expect the same level from everyone else in this group and then to harangue them for not having it. Ethereal voices and cello is just sooooo what I'm into. But I just can't get into her. Her voice is a little too nasal-y. And the cello work just doesn't sound as heavenly as I like.. *sigh* :-( Paul - -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "This is the time. I think the reason people leave her out of their lists here is she occupies the default #1 position in everyone's case (most of us, anyway). Since she's a given, the lists really reflect who ELSE we like. I'm sure those of us who post best-of lists on other sites do put her on, just to spread the word. I have a MySpace blog (because that's the only way I'm gonna keep up with what's going on with my family), and I try to almost always have a Happy song on my profile page. fleur On Dec 27, 2007 11:34 AM, Michael Pearce wrote: > At 1:55 AM -0500 12/27/07, "Xenu's Sister" wrote: > > >I didn't expect to see her on anyone's list outside of Ecto. Every year about August I see that she has an upcoming show in December and I think, "Maybe I'll go to that." Then about November I think, "She's so weird. Maybe I'll skip it this year." Then in early December I think, "You know, you always have a good time; you really should go." Then I go and have a magical time, and my reaction is, "What could you have been *thinking*?!!" Every time I've seen her, her hair is in some strange style that I've never seen before; this time, however, it was tucked up under a cap and didn't look particularly outlandish. (She also wore a large slave bracelet with a huge blue jewel in it.) All the music was "new," though I've heard some of these for several years (e.g., "I pick up the phone/and I don't call you...," "I don't remember where I was when I was first lifted up...," "You had a good thing/and you blew it."-- I don't know any of the real titles) -- no "Hockey" or "Calling All Angels" etc. I haven't bought any recordings from her lately, but the most recent ones I have suggest that what she does on stage just doesn't go over into recorded form very well. So if she comes anywhere near where you are, don't miss it! I'll also recommend his Snow Patrol/Police tune, "Every Car You Chase." Mash-ups are not terribly ecto, I guess, but they seem to be about a third of the music I listen to these days. . . Ted N.P.
