This year's crop includes: Feist, the big winner, with 4 nominations to her credit, including Best New Artist, even though as WE all know, The Reminder is NOT her debut album. She also scored nominations for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Short Form Music Video (for "1 2 3 4") and Best Pop Vocal Album (for The Reminder) Lucinda Williams got 2 nods for "Come On" - Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance and Best Rock Song. Bjork's Volta was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album. Mary Chapin Carpenter (The Calling) and Patty Griffin (Children Running Through) were both nominated in the Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album category. Angelique Kidjo (Djin Djin) and Loreena McKennitt (An Ancient Muse) were both nominated in the Best Contemporary World Music Album category. The Grammys aren't something I pay attention to, but when the nominations list hits the newspapers, I'm always curious enough to check. And happy for the artists, and hopeful that the recognition garners them some new fans, or something. I feel like when woj and I move out of our apartment (yes, the fabled House o'Muzak is about to be no more, long sad story of evil landlords and corporate greed redacted) we should pull up the floorboards she stood on when she played in our living room in March of 2000 and frame them. :} I mean, lots of other serious luminaries stood on them as well (Happy Rhodes included). I just saw "Once" on the plane last week, and I highly recommend it to all. It's a beautiful little movie, and the music is great. Plus, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova are two of the most adorable human beings on the planet, and well worth watching for an hour and a half. :) - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2007 16:38:30 -0800 From: Neile Graham Subject: Two Loons for Tea news For those interested--includes a link to a free MP3. - --Neile >Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2007 19:15:29 -0500 (EST) >From: Sarathan Records >Reply-To: newsletter@sarathan.com >Sender: Sarathan Records >To: neile@drizzle.com >Subject: WTF Winner; Free Exclusive Two Loons MP3, and more ... >List-Unsubscribe: >http://visitor.constantcontact.com/d.jsp?p=un&v=001fCFdTiS7mDRIKPFy9_msaqjVI0AHW-VEypksdbtADxAZEvBDFOpCxg== > > >TWO LOONS FOR TEA NEWSLETTER >Dec 4, 2007 > >You are receiving this email because of your >relationship with Sarathan Records. >If you do not want to receive future mailings >from us, click on the Safe Unsubscribe link at >the bottom of this message. >IN THIS EDITION: 1] <>Exclusive Free MP3 of >"Cinnamon Toast" for Two Loons For Tea Fans! >2] <>Two Loons Dec Shows (NY, NJ & Seattle) >3] <>Cast Your Vote For Two Loons For Tea & Chrisopher Blue >4] <>"Monkey" Debut on TV >5] <>Join Our Street-Team >6] <>Exclusive Live Show on XM Starbucks Cafe >7] <>WTF?
