Today's Subjects: ----------------- Another bleedin' "Greatest ever" type list [Adam Kimmel ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 20 Nov 2007 03:55:12 -0800 From: Adam Kimmel Subject: Another bleedin' "Greatest ever" type list Emerging from my self-imposed torpor to bring attention to this:B The Guardian paper doing a week-long "1000 albums you must hear before you die" list.B Experience has taught me that such lists are not to inform or enlighten, but merely to p*ss people off, but I like the range of it, and they've deliberately attempted not to state the obvious (Sgt Peppers is out, Rubber Soul is in, for instance).B My main grouse is I was holding my breath hoping that Peter Hammill would get a mention, at least for "Nadir's Big Chance", only to find he has got a mention, but for "The Love Songs", a remixed anthology of...well, like it says, a concept (and album cover) so cheesy it's one of the few Hammill CDs I haven't actually got. Still, you can make your own suggestions, so I thought it might be worth an ecto vote:B let them know we're here, even if I'm not really. http://music.guardian.co.uk/1000albums/0,,2211598,00.html Vote early, vote often.
