I kept meaning to post about something I ran across in NYC at the end of September. There was a big "India at 60" celebration in Bryant Park, and while I was walking by I heard something that sounded something like 1970s Yes. It was a band called Asia Electric, led by drummer Sivamani. I found a photo here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sangalina/1430475689/in/set-72157602168686061/ The sitar was so electrified it barely sounded like a sitar; the sitar player, Niladri Kumar, was impressively agile. I only got an impression from staying a few minutes, so I'm not sure if I'd really care for the music if I heard it again. Anyone else know them? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Nov 2007 05:36:56 +0100 From: "Henning Rech" Subject: European version MWABT - was: Re: ecto-digest V13 #288 Yesterday a mail from Amazon arrived that the article is out of stock and they have to cancel my order. I kinda wondered why the song wasn't included on the original version of the album. I've played the song to death - both the live version and album version. It should have been on the album and released as a single as well - Backed with Mercy Street and I Dream of Sheep would have been a single beyond anything out there imho. > the "regular" release surely did not sell out, so did these European > versions actually sell out? how many copies did Samson/GoldCircle press of > these "European" MWABT? did Gold Circle do it or did someone else do it? > I actually found a used copy in Oslo as I was looking for a birthday gift for someone - kinda lucky.
