Someone asked for suggestions on music. Obviously, this is the place to come. Quick thoughts EXTREMELY helpful -- here's the question: "I'm looking for some deep, dark moody music....nothing too fast paced or too rock and roll. Basically I want something that makes portishead, placebo, massive attack, etc. look like barry manilow. think heavy bass lines, some ethereal voice..." I'm making a list now, but if you guys could toss quick suggestions, that'd be SO helpful. No reasoning necessary (though great if you wanna include,) just names are fine. I can think of a lot of music with ethereal voices, it's the heavy bass lines mixed in that kinda throws things... Don't know if these are dark enough, or sound too "ethnicky", but they came to mind: Dead Can Dance - "Avatar" - Speen and Ideal CD Lisa Gerrard/Pieter Bourke - "Pilgrimage of Lost Children" - Duality CD David Byrne/Brian Eno - "Regiment" - My Life in the Bush of Ghosts CD SPK - "In Flagrante Delicto" - Songs of Byzantine Flowers CD (may be impossible to find) A lot of Dead Can Dance/Lisa Gerrard might work, if you want to wade through their fairly sizable catalog... I'd suggest Arvo Part for cool choral voices, but again... not much there as far as bass lines go... unless you mixed it together yourself, which I've done for theater in the past... Mixing yourself you can pretty much nail ANY mood. Ella McCrystle wrote: Someone asked for suggestions on music. Obviously, this is the place to come.
