I've sent several to Norway, and I can't find a "Cath" with your email address anywhere, unless you go by Catherine and I mistakenly had you on the MySpace list, which would seem logical, but it's still a different email address from this one you're posting to ecto from. Would you please write me and let me know what name the CD was ordered under? I just want to make 100% sure I mark off the right person, since some people ordered multiples and someone else might have ordered it then gave it to you. Everyone's color-coded on my Excel worksheets. PayPal Paid, confirmed with Happy; PayPal Paid, not yet confirmed with Happy; sending check/money order, Happy received said check/money order; Mailed (with date); Received... Yes, it's a bit obsessive but I'm so known for being a flake and this really does help me keep track of everything. I have to do everything right, because it's not only your (everyone who's ordered) money and your receiving and hearing this wonderful music, it's Happy's trust and friendship on the line if I screw up. I've been doing really well. I've sent out: - - 46 CDs from the first wave (out of 49 CDs I brought home from Cambridge...one is waiting for a money order from Italy, one is the now paid-for phantom Dave disc, and one is my own signed CD) - - 60 CDs from the second wave - - So far, 79 from the 3rd/4th/5th waves (out of a box of 100). But I'm holding back 17 for those who are sending checks/money orders to Happy, so I really only have 4 left from that box! I'm not sure if Happy's sending me another box. I'm not sure I want her to, because I don't want to be stuck with a bunch of unsold CDs when it goes on sale at CD Baby if that happens sooner rather than later. We'll see. As far as Received, I'm still waiting to hear from - - 4 people from the first wave (only 1 is an ectophile) - - 18 people from the second wave (only 4 ectophiles though) - - 24 from the third wave (6 are ectophiles) So, ectophiles have been great about letting me know about receiving the CD, THANKS! I need to kick some MySpacers' butts (well, write them a polite letter, asking if they've received the CD). Two little things: Read this on Ani Difranco's bulletin today and thought of Happy :) What a COOL idea! I love it! Maybe Happy could do the same thing, that is if she was ever interested (: I haven't gone to the web site as of yet but saw the pics and they look great! Happy's strings would mean a great deal more to me of course (although God knows I love Ani too!) Ani writes: "Have you ever wanted to own your very own piece of Ani DiFranco memoribilia? On a different thought today:I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool if there were Happy Rhodes bumper stickers? Would you put one on your car? Heck, I know I would & I've never put a sticker on any of my cars lol! Has one ever been made? Ever been talked about? Am I just being silly? I actually had my mom make me 2 bumper stickers once (when she worked in fine printing) concerning Adrian Belew and it said "I'd Rather Be Right Here." (he wrote lyrics "if I had a bumper sticker this is what it would say, I'd Rather be Right Here.") Alas, I gave one to him years ago (which he still has & loves, and refuses to put on his car; last I heard it was on his fireplace mantle LOL!) Someone actually stole mine :( But I thought it would be so cool! Imagine seeing one? :))) Anyway.. just some passing thoughts today...Positive vibes and energy towards Happy as always... I couldn't say for sure since I don't know how many she sold at the show. Perhaps Paul or Robert or Jeff have an idea of how many sold there? All told, I've sold 208, *counting* the check/money order people and the Dave disc (thanks Mike!). I got 49 in Cambridge (including my own, but that was a freebie because Happy is a sweetie), a box of 60, then a box of 100. All gone/spoken for now. I don't think she's sold any herself, but I know she's sent out several to family, friends and other musicians. Those would have been freebies I'm sure. I know no one here is into the Rev. Peyton's Big Damn Band, but I adore them and have met them several times. One time they were staying with a mutual friend in Kansas City and Chris and I stopped by to see them. Josh (the "Reverend") was out on the back patio changing the strings of his guitars and I went out to sit with him and talk. These are vintage guitars he has, and are now being played by an amazing, kickass, jaw-dropping, will-be-a-Legend-someday guitar player. It was fascinating to watch him change his strings. I asked him if I could have his old guitar strings. He must have thought I was batshit insane, but said ok, quite amused. I still have them, stuffed in a bag, and have no idea what to do with them. One day they'll be worth some bucks on ebay :). Maybe. Not that I have any way to prove that they belonged to the Rev. Josh Peyton, other than his word. Maybe I should make up some sort of Certificate of Authenticity and have him sign it/them next time they're in town. > On a different thought today:I was thinking, wouldn't it be > cool if there were Happy Rhodes bumper stickers? My only complaint: it was *way* too short. She was only on stage for 45 minutes, including encore. It was like she was opening for an invisible headliner that nobody else knew or cared about, kinda weird. But that aside, it was a stunning performance. The only thing of hers on the stage was a microphone. On a few songs she sang to some drones that were played on a CD over the system, but mostly she just sang a cappella. She started off doing one of her "Speaking in Tongues" pieces, which was absolutely amazing to witness live. In between every song she explained what it was and why she chose it (and in the case of the traditional English and Irish folk tunes she explained how she'd changed them to fit her modern feminist sensibilities :). I was pleasantly surprised by her demeanor on stage ... she came across as kind of a spitfire, somebody I think it would be fun to hang out with. She certainly didn't seem to take herself too seriously. I don't know why I was expecting her to be more dour, but I guess I was. :) So there ya go. Definitely worth the trip (and the steep ticket price). I really hope she tours again, I'd love to see her do a longer show next time. - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V13 #268 ***************************
