A bunch o' my surf buddies and I had our annual party - with a raffle of a free surfboard and other goodies - tonight and I suggested we do a little night surfing during the harvest moon..... we started coming up with potential problems and ways to solve them. One is that it is real hard to see people paddle out towards you.....so....we think glow sticks attached to our wetsuit zipper cords and held in our mouths would be good....or.....sticking them, seriously attached to hats/helmets.....etc..... and the other idea was to use them or a waterproof lantern on a buoy that will bob UP when waves come so we can see them coming better... which is sheer brilliance as man....those things can be hard to see coming (before they break) just little black lines coming at ya... anyway.... If you know of any place that sells all kinds of glowsticks we could get creative with - wearing wetsuits and hats and helmets - or other non-electrical ways we can light ourselves up....we are so there..... thanks!! I bought the glow sticks I took with me to Cambridge (that we didn't even get to use because Happy didn't leave the state for an encore) on ebay, but I found this place after I had bought them: http://www.clubthings.com/ Man, if I had lots of money I'd go crazy at that place. Chris jokes that I'm part-some bird I can't remember, that if it's shiny or glows I'm all over it, and it's true. I love things that glow! I'm way too old and fat and unhip to go to a rave, but if I were young and not-fat and not-unhip, I'd go to raves just to take in all the glowy things, bask in the wonderfulness that is glow. I was born way too soon. I haven't made one yet. Shocking, eh? First, all I had was my signed copy and I didn't want that to go up anywhere. Next, I sent out the 2nd batch of CDs so quickly I completely forgot to scan one in before they left. Next, I have some from this last batch, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. All the CDs I have are sealed and I don't want to break one open so when I scan one, unless someone else does theirs first, it'll be through the cellophane and plastic of the CD case. I've actually been kinda dreading the day when someone would finally ask for a scan of the cover. I don't like it much (I do like some things about it) and I want people to hear the music and not see the cover. It's not the kind of CD cover I'd want to hand to people and say "here, you have to hear this awesome music!" I can't help but hope that if the CD goes into a 2nd printing, she'll re-do the cover, but as always with Happy, I have to respect the choices she makes even if I have problems with them. And anyway, other people are liking it, so what do I know? But it's good to have the lyrics. Looking at them now, after having heard the first few songs, I realize that "One and Many" makes more sense now that I know that she isn't repeatedly singing "at the heart of my daisies." ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2007 04:04:01 -0700 (PDT) From: "Xenu's Sister" Subject: Find My lyrics - --- Joseph Zitt wrote: > But it's good to have the lyrics. That's hilarious! All of the lyrics can be found at http://happyrhodes.org/findmelyrics/index.html They've actually been up for a long time but I forgot to say anything and no one noticed. Those are the lyrics as Happy originally sent them to me. I mean, they were doc files when Happy sent them right after the Sampler was released. In an effort to try and maintain the formatting that Happy gave, I used a style sheet. I did all the songs even though I only put up the 8 that were on the Sampler. Yes, it's true, I have had the lyrics to Little Brother, Treehouse and Queen (originally called I Am Your Queen) for over 2 years. I also have the lyrics to the song that didn't make it on the album, "Shutdown" if she ever decides to release that one in some format. (I haven't heard it). I will get them on ecto.org, I want to, I just haven't yet put up the new songs on the Find Me page. I need to do that, I was kinda waiting until I got a scan of the album cover, but I've been so busy with other things. They are coming. One change I've noticed from the original lyrics that Happy sent (and I haven't had time to go through and look for others) is that her version of "One and Many" says "That I am one and many is at the heart of my dis-ease" while the lyrics booklet takes that hyphen out ("disease") and I don't know if Happy changed her mind or if it was a mistake at the printers. I like Happy's version. dis-ease works on two different levels, disease only one. I'll have to ask her. Yes, PayPal cptbryant@aol.com and forward the receipt to me. I'll replace the "?" Post-it note with a "Paid" Post-it note and not have to worry about it anymore. It'll stay where it is until we get something Letterman-ish going. I don't think there's a hurry on that. Happy's not going anywhere. And even if he liked it and even if a miracle occured and he wanted her on the show, they probably book months in advance. On the other hand, if, by another miracle, Happy did start getting some attention, he'd be first to know about her and have a jump start on the competition. Oh, that's just crazy talk, but You Never Know. While the Samson era embedded a cynical streak in me a mile wide, I can't help these bubbles of optimism that pop up every now and then, uncontrollable. True, what used to be an ocean of optimism is now just a few random bubbles, but they are there. It's a spirit-sapping, soul-sucking optimism that will be the death of me, but if they didn't exist, I couldn't do half of what I do. > Is the press kit concept still in play?
