Her voice is pure crystal, and her compositions mix cello and electronics with a pop sensibility. Jorane, Tori Amos and Siouxsie Sioux come to mind. The lyrics have a political/feminist bent. Side one is electronic, side two is the same songs stripped down to piano and cello. Susanna and the Magical Orchestra, Melody Mountain http://www.susannamagical.com/ Scandanavian Susanna has a hushed, tentative voice that reminds me of Margo Timmons of the Cowboy Junkies. Her orchestra is one man on elegant electronics. Their repertoire is unique, pained versions of cover songs, from Kiss to Joy Division. The arrangements are full of glissandi and minimal, focusing on Susannas pretty, sensitive readings. Falling You, Human and Touch http://www.fallingyou.com/ Ambient ethereal pop with a multitude of female voices, including Suzanne Perry (Love Spirals Downward) and Erica Mulkey. The rich, luminous synth-based pieces will remind people of similar ethereal cast albums, like This Mortal Coil. But the melodies are catchy and leavened by rays of light amidst the darkly romantic hues. http://ethereal-lad.livejournal.com/390709.html Blog: http://ethereal-lad.livejournal.com Music Blog: http://www.last.fm/user/ethereal_lad/ _____________________________________________________________________________ _______ Don't let your dream ride pass you by. I admire whoever figured out how to mic them effectively. :) Anyway, they're touring the US for a month. Enjoy. brni ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Sep 2007 15:22:02 -0700 (PDT) From: "Xenu's Sister" Subject: Re: 2nd wave of Find me orders arrived - --- gordodo@optonline.net wrote: > just a quick note that Find Me - 2nd wave arrived in my mailbox today :) > > thanks for being the virtual storefront vickie! You're welcome and thanks for telling me you got it. Btw, Happy sent those Auntie Social Music return address stickers with the CDs, in case they went astray they'd go back to her, not me. Most of the first wave didn't get them because most of those went out before I got the stickers. I thought I'd mention that in case someone mentions the stickers and 1st wavers will going "wha..hey!" or lest anyone think that I'm secretly Happy and let the cat out of the bag by putting on stickers, or that Happy actually did send out the CDs. She didn't, she's way too busy. She's got a trade show coming up (AES) and is frantically getting ready for that. How does she keep making phenomenal music like this, without repeating herself? She truly has an amazing gift. The new songs not on the sampler are excellent and the familiar ones are even better. Thanks so much for sending these out. Ken ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V13 #257 ***************************
