Speaking of CD Baby, they are as lovely in person as how they treat the customers and artists on line. This summer, on tour with Wendy Rule, while we were up in Portland Wendy insisted we go by and check it out. I was in a rush with a concert that night and really didn't want to but we drove around trying to find the warehouse anyway. It was fun to find it, black haired gothic punk hipster workers outside smiling at us two overdressed witches...came in the back way and wandered thru the giant stacks and stacks, wild to see all these indie artists, folks were wonderful and friendly, the office folks were happy to meet us both and they helped Wendy and I immediately (we needed credit card slips for tour)...cute doggie in the office, everyone was young, smiling, the vibe and look was exactly how you "think" it would be, which rarely happens in this corporate fako world. I love them, they have all my Blind albums and soundtrack and I just added all my Azigza cds too, they pay me directly into my bank as soon as I earn $20, and they ask for candy with cd shipments so I always send them candy, cause they so deserve it. cyoakha ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Sep 2007 09:19:23 -0400 From: Steve Molla Subject: re: ecto? I think sending it > to Letterman is an excellent idea. I'll help if need be. I wrote her and asked her if she had *anything* resembling a press kit, but I haven't heard anything. I seriously doubt it. If we...well, not we since I haven't a creative bone in my body, but if you and others could put together something classy and eye-catching, that'd be great! One problem is that no one has a recent "publicity-type" photo of Happy. There's not been a real photo of Happy taken since she was with Samson Music. Perhaps Henning or Jeff W. would offer some of the amazing photos they took at the concert that could be used somehow? How about a bio/cover letter? We have lots of great writers here. Tim Jones-Yelvington? (she asks hopefully, knowing what a phenomenal writer Tim is and you will all find out soon too). Most modern browsers (e.g. everything (?) which isn't IE) have preferences to block sites from doing that. * Firefox: tools -> options -> content -> the advanced... button next to javascript -> uncheck "move or resize existing windows". http://mozilla.com/ * SeaMonkey: edit -> preferences -> advanced -> scripts & plug-ins -> uncheck "move or resize existing windows" http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/ * Opera: tools -> preferences -> advanced -> content -> Javascript options... -> uncheck "Allow resizing of windows" http://www.opera.com/ It could very well be that that checkbox is unchecked by default for these browsers, too. Have I said recently how badly suited I am to be doing this kind of thing? She doesn't want to do this kind of thing, so I guess I'm it. http://www.sonicbids.com/HappyRhodes I've paid to enter her in promotions before but nothing's ever panned out (of course) so I let the account lapse. It's "Deactivated" although her page still shows up. I put up pages for her at a few dozen places. None of it matters, no one cares. (well, she did get a handful of fans from MP3Unsigned, Mixposure and Red Fizz, so I'm glad about that). I've paid out of my own pocket memberships to various places, but they lapse when I can't pay the renewal. It's frustrating. Media mail is really only cheaper if you're sending something heavy. For a single CD, it's a savings of like 2 cents. I use media mail a lot when I'm sending, say, a box of 30 CDs to CD Baby; then it can be a real money-saver (like, $6 or $7 less). But I wouldn't recommend it for anything under 1 pound. - --Sue ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Sep 2007 13:46:53 -0700 From: Troy J Shadbolt Subject: first wave mailing arrived "find me" made it to the san francisco bay area today - -- troy j shadbolt www.voyuz.net ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Sep 2007 20:09:08 -0700 From: birdie Subject: Re: first wave mailing arrived yep, and made it to LA... today....
