Greta Gertler with The Extroverts (bits of Slavic Soul Party) are such a silly experience, with men in sparkly red capes and pink wigs doing orgasmic guitar solos and songs about eating waitresses and a sad komodo dragon (?) called Flora who wanted the pitter patter of tiny feet and reproduced without a mate. They covered ACDC's 'It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll' when I saw them, doing the Australian/New Zealand version we sang as kids - "It's a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll." The recordings on her first (?) album are overly tasteful so it was fun seeing them in this context, but it detracted a bit from charming non-silly songs like 'Grasshoppers'. Wish I could see her solo show in Cambridge :) K. > From: gaseous clay > Subject: Re: more info: Noe's playing Aug 2 at the Lily Pad at Inman Sq. in Cambridge... > alice does swell acoustic pop, greta does the piano songstress thing > and noe is, well, noe. really, there's something for everyone. speaking > for meredith and myself, we wish we could make it up ourselves! > > woj ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Aug 2007 21:53:03 EDT From: SpiritWe@aol.com Subject: **CLARIFICATION RE: VOTING FOR RACHAEL SAGE (STARBUCKS CONTEST)** Hello everyone! I'm sorry but I'm still at the "oh god!" part. I thought it was pretty horrible, actually.
