Hi, As some of you may recall from previous years, I'm planning to do the Clarion West Write-a-Thon again this year (as I did in 2004 and 2005). The write-a-thon runs six weeks, starting June 17 and I will end my six weeks on August 1. This year my life is complicated (delightfully) in that I've received a Canada Council to work in a new collection of poetry. So, in addition to working on fiction as I do regularly, for the write-a-thon I plan to add two more hours to my usual fiction writing schedule (thus a minimum of 8 hours on fiction per week), and additionally write a first draft of one poem a week for my Canada Council project. Oh, and I'll be helping run the workshop, as usual. Any support, no matter how small, financial or moral, is welcome. There are two ways you can help: 1. Pledge towards my goals. The Write-a-Thon is a fundraiser for the Clarion West Writing Workshop. You can pledge as much or as little as you want: $1/week, $2/week, $5/week, $25/week, or just a flat sum. Friends putting their money where my mouth is is highly motivating for me. Please don't feel obligated to pledge--but if you'd like to do so, you're supporting a wonderful non-profit organization dedicated to developing new writers. All donations are tax-deductible. 2. Offer support and encouragement. This is just as important to me as pledges. Either way, let me know if you'd like me send you a weekly email with updates my Write-a-Thon progress. To make things easy, Clarion West has given us each our own write-a-thon page and PayPal buttons. I can certainly take checks, or you can send them directly to Clarion West (340 15th Avenue East; Seattle, WA 98112), but if you find the web more convenient, my PayPal buttons are located on my Clarion West page: http://www.clarionwest.org/write-a-thon/home/neile_graham Or you can see if there's someone else you'd like to sponsor (there are a lot of wonderful writers participating this year including Michael Swanwick and Paul Park!) at Clarion West's write-a-thon page: http://www.clarionwest.org/write-a-thon Thanks for reading this! - --Neile - -- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Neile Graham .... neile@sff.net/@drizzle.com ... www.sff.net/people/neile Les Semaines: A Weekly Journal ........ www.sff.net/people/neile/semaines Editor, The Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music ........... www.ectoguide.org Workshop Administrator, Clarion West ................ www.clarionwest.org ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V13 #157 ***************************
