I think my last Zazie album was _Made in Love,_ which I didn't like as much as _Zen,_ and I never made much of an effort after that to find out what was going on with her. I'll have to catch up. Part of Zazie's appeal to me, at least on _Zen,_ was the wordplay. (E.g., "homme sweet homme" which in the next verse becomes "ame sweet ame"--"soul sweet soul.") Since I'm not a native French speaker, it probably sounds less clever to someone who is, but I like it at least. For those interested in a sample, here's a video of "Larsen," one of the Zazie songs I like best: http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/Zazie%2BLarsen/video/xnz3k_zazie-larsen (After some research, I learned that "larsen" means "feedback" in French--audio feedback.) Dailymotion and YouTube have a lot of Zazie videos too. However, I don't have time to watch the ones for songs I don't know, and for the ones I do know I like the video part even less than "Larsen." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 May 2007 07:02:50 -0400 From: "Robert Lovejoy" Subject: Re: rhodeshows.com and suspended-in-gaffa.com shutting down I just popped over to http://www.suspended-in-gaffa.com/happy/video/ and was rather stunned to see EBN-OZN's "Shopping Bag Lady" video there. I worked on this video. I did the color treatment and film transfer when I was working at Century III in Boston. I was very happy with how it turned out and always thought it was a good piece. Never saw it anywhere since then! I have worked on many music videos, most of which seem to vanish in the night. This was one of my favorites. At least one video I transferred had some legs - "Rockin' the Casbah" from The Clash still shows up now and then. Some at least made MTV rotation for a while, like Tom Tom Club's animated "Genius of Love" or Blue Oyster Cult's "Joan Crawford Has Risen From The Grave". Recently I've done some videos for "Him" ("Sacrifice") that might have been seen somewhere (Europe?) Anyway, thanks to Vicki for the blast from my past! Now to get downloading before it all goes away! Trust me, it looked a lot better than that... Bob ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 May 2007 13:59:01 -0500 From: "Southpaw" Subject: It's a Trap! GREAT place to find Scandinavian music! I told Jason about this site already, but since there are many USA folks on here who have the same issues finding Scandinavian music that I have, I figured I would pass this along to everyone! Check out http://www.itsatrap.com/! They have a GREAT selection of a lot of music that you can't find here in the US, or if you do find it, then it has crazy "import prices." I just picked up the new Kristofer Astrom, as well as about 11 other CDs, including Britta Persson, Christian Kjellvander, Tiger Lou and some GREAT looking samplers. The cool part, on my $99 order, shipping was only $5.70 on my order! He also threw some cool promos in my order! Avi Roig is the guy behind the site, and I emailed him and told him there might be a few people on the list interested in his site, and he gave me a discount code for the list!!! When checking out, enter coupon code "ECTOPHILE" for 6% off. It's good for one order per person through the end of May. There is also the "It's A Trap! Record Club" which will get you a CD every month as well as access to some MP3 samplers, and other bonuses. I joined the club for 3 months, which is $12 per month, and it looks very cool! Anyway, check out the site! There is some GREAT music there, at very good prices! We taped it directly off MTV and the render was from the original tape. Either MTV's version was faded, or it just got that way over time. Chris has been going through our old tapes and YouTubing various things, and they are OOOOLD tapes. Cool that you worked on it!! We love that video!
