How a centuries-old exclamation that has been in common use all over the English world including the US could be so quickly forgotten. Voila is something you should first hear and see in grammar school. Maybe it was corrupted when we first learned the term "dish-wallah." Thank India for that one. Her voice is awesome, the songs selected great for her voice, and she's got a terrific band with her (including longtime collaborators Aaron David and David Piltch, but including saxes, horns, theremin, etc.) The highlights are probably the kick off track, "This House is Haunted by The Echo of Your Last Goodbye" and "Waters of March". Overall a great album that Holly fans should definitely check out. Jann Arden - Cover Me - Jann's latest is a pretty decent collection of cover songs--the weakest track in my opinion is the kick off track--Freda Payne's anti-war song Bring the Boys Home. To me, Jann just sounds a bit screechy on this track, but the album picks up after that. Other songs include California Dreamin, Peace Train, a surprisingly good version of Pat Benatar's Love is a Battlefield, You're So Vain, Downtown and Solitarie, plus a few others. A pretty decent covers album, but lacks some of the emotional depth of her own recordings. Jann is on tour supporting this album, but has had to cancel at least a couple of dates due to some recent heart troubles--you can read more at her website-- www.jannarden.com. Upcoming albums I'm excited about: Maria McKee - Late December (release date April 24th) Tom McRae - King of Cards (due out May 17th) Jeff Hanson np - Hilary Hahn - Elgar Violin Concerto/Vaughn Williams Lark Ascending nr - The Fantasy Writer's Assistant and other Stories - Jeffrey Ford ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 05 Apr 2007 10:33:34 -0700 From: Nadyne Mielke Subject: Need help in identifying a song A couple of weeks ago, I heard a song on the radio. It9s sung by a male, and I only heard an accompanying guitar on the snippet that I caught. The chorus includes the line 3when heaven and hell light up the no9s on their vacancy signs2. The DJ said that it was a new track, but I missed the rest of their spiel, and of course I wasn9t smart enough to check the radio station9s website for that day9s playlist later on. Can someone please help me figure out who this is? That'd be my absolute favorite song on Death Cab for Cutie's most recent release, _Plans_. The song is called "I Will Follow You into the Dark" and my partner knows to shut up when it comes on or I'll yell at him. jeff ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Apr 2007 12:51:48 -0500 From: Mandy Qualls Subject: RE: Need help in identifying a song That song is "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie.
