(Actually, hearing the clips on her site I'm slightly more inclined to write ecto about her: http://www.angelaortiz.com http://www.myspace.com/ortizangela ) So I went to susancourt.com and found the site of a real estate agent in Ontario. I didn't do more of a search until this morning where I found her at http://www.fundeling.com/ where she belongs. Still, it looks like she hasn't done anything with the site since 2001, and since then it's been hacked. The home page contains a few inserted bits like: "Debut Album TRAMADOL" or "real people tramadol experience Online Pharmacy - check it!" The news page post 2001 has a lot of Tramadol stuff testimonials that clearly weren't added by her. I miss Susan Court. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Mar 2007 10:38:13 -0500 From: "Paul Blair" Subject: "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Definitive 200" Amazon just sent me the Definitive 200 list: "The National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame have put together a list of 200 albums that should be in every music collection. As NARM president Jim Donio puts it, they are 'albums that have consistently excited record buyers over the years and those that have the potential for continued success based on enduring popularity....'" OK, anybody who undertakes this project is setting themselves up for a fight, but I was going through, thinking uh-huh, uh-huh, ok, that's a big seller, that's a big seller, right, right... However. As I go past the second or third Dixie Chicks entry I start getting over 150 and think: What, no Yes? no Rush? (well, ok, 2112 is at #196--no Permanent Waves or Moving Pictures)... no GENESIS? (Phil Collins' No Jacket Required is at #74). I mean, I'm not surprised Happy Rhodes or Susan Court didn't make the list, but just in terms of airplay this seems crazy to me. Someone over there is completely oblivious to prog. (Unless you count *Aqualung* at 168.) KaTe? Don't even think about it. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Mar 2007 11:18:08 -0500 From: "Jeffrey Burka" Subject: Re: I miss Susan Court paul sez: > I miss Susan Court. Yes, so do I. I still love _High Relief_. I went searching for her a year or two ago and found that her new gig (though she now appears to be on hiatus) is: http://www.photosprout.com/ so she's gotten out of the music biz. a pity! She used to link to Photosprout from the fundeling site, though as you point out, her original site has been hacked. Hooray for the wayback machine -- I'd never have remembered the new URL on my own. jeff n.p. _Songs_, Regina Spektor ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 09 Mar 2007 13:27:02 -0800 From: birdie Subject: Adrienne Pierce newsletter SXSW info Here's Adrienne's little newsletter - her new CD is avail on iTunes, and I suspect many of you will want to take a listen (see links below). She will be doing her 1st show in support of it at SXSW. Cheers Birdie Hi There Yesterday I returned from Bologna (where I was shooting a video) and now I am back in California looking at the Jasmine which is in full bloom outside my window. It seems amazing that we can be so quickly transported from one world to another. Tomorrow I leave for Austin for a show at SXSW. (Light Bar, March 16, 9pm) There are now ringtones available for many of the songs from Faultline here! I think my personal favorites are the ring tone for Laundry and Dishes which starts with "I lost my phone..." and the one for Faultline which starts with "I didn't call you today". I now have different ring tones for the different people in my life (not my own of course, that would be strange) and I have to say it is a lot of fun. For everyone in my family I have "We are family" as the ring tone. It is almost spring and I hope things are beginning to bloom wherever you are. I've greatly enjoyed the 2006 and 2005 SXSW .MP3 collections available via bittorrent; I'm a veteran bittorrent user and seldom hit a problem I can't solve. I've tried a few times to use the SXSW 2007 bittorrent at and it chokes after creating only a couple of dozen empty files. I've written to the webmaster to no response. Has anyone here had any success with this torrent? Thanks. kj - -- Kim Justice justicekw@gmail.com "There can always be new beginnings -- even for people like us." - -- Susan Ivanova ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Mar 2007 22:46:01 -0800 From: "Bill Mazur" Subject: Nijole Sparkis Hello Everyone, After a few years of turmoil things have finally settled down at bit in our lives. Billi and I have recently relocated to Central California. I just recently jumped into the whole MySpace arena. Tonight I stumbled onto the MySpace site of Nijole Sparkis. I do not believe that I have seen her mentioned here on Ecto (I still read the posts religiously). She has a very beautiful and moving voice. Her music is really pretty cool in the vein of DCD, Loreena McKennitt and Louisa John-Krol with a bit of a 60s Psychedelic element as well. Very Ecto friendly... All the best!
