(I guess dismissing fairies > in Cornwall is > only a risk for men...) I rather liked her response. But I almost dismissed the entire interview from the start because of "with the insufferably long winter of Cornwall, England, looming". Hmm. Insufferably long winter of Cornwall? More like autumn, says she who lives two hours from Cornwall and has spent time there in the winter. But then I drove up to York in a slushstorm the weekend before last and didn't think it was a problem. :) Ellen, Colorado transplant in England. PS Drove to Bristol on Sunday to see the Indigo Girls. Nothing special, not thrilled with all of the new songs (although there was one I rather liked), but I loved the harmonies on the older ones. *sigh* Catherine Feeney, the opening artist, a Californian transplanted to Norfolk (for the weather, she joked) might have a future with a decent sound person. Actually, she improved with time; her later songs were far better than the first ones she played, but they weren't enough to get me to buy her CD. Why do I have the feeling that her first couple of numbers were her soundcheck? "Literature stops in 1100. First thing I found was the ectoguide entry saying "The Shao nO Shao Home Page is no more" and I didn't see anything immediately helpful on the first page of Google search results. Fortunately, I also searched on "Olga Helm" and found a link to a myspace page: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=102408277 For those of you in France, they'll be playing in Montpellier on March 10. For the rest of us, they have a few demo tracks and the announcement that the new album, "Domestic Bliss," is forthcoming. It also says, "SHAI NO SHAI ARE LOOKING FOR A RECORD LABEL" in case any of you have suggestions. Finally, there's a link there to their website: http://www.shainoshai.com/ so far there's just a homepage with a "new album" announcement, an "under construction 4/2006" graphic, and a "contact" link. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2007 11:19:24 -0500 From: "Jeffrey Burka" Subject: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Re:_Whaddya_know,_after_10_years..._Sha=EF_No_Sh a=EF?= paul sez: > For the rest of us, they have a few demo tracks and the announcement > that the new album, "Domestic Bliss," is forthcoming. cool! thanks for the update, Paul. I remember picking up _Human Condition_ at Tower in LA about 10 years ago, having seen the band's name on ecto. Perhaps they'll stop looking for a label (anyone else terrified at the idea of the Warner buying EMI? How the hell will even more consolidation help?!) and start releasing music. Which reminds me, Casey Stratton is about to release his new album, _The Crossing_. He's pre-selling it right now at his digital store for $17.99 ($23.99 international). For that price you get to download DRM-free mp3's of 12 of the album's 14 songs right now, plus he'll ship you a CD once they're reading in early April. The music is pretty much more of the same, so if you liked _Divide_, you'll probably like this. jeff n.p. _The Crossing_, Casey Stratton ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2007 15:32:51 -0500 From: "JoAnn Whetsell" Subject: RE: Whaddya know, after 10 years... Shaï No Shaï Thanks so much for the good news! I love their "Human Condition" album, and every once in a while when I really miss them, I do an internet search, but I'd lost hope of ever hearing them again. It's one of my top 5 albums of all time. Totally brilliant I think and let's just say The Beekeeper was a huge disappointment to me.
