I just want to plug a new feature at last.fm -- as many of you know, last.fm is a service where you can register your musical tastes either manually or automatically by allowing your music player to snitch on you. this means you can see what other people with tastes similar to yours have been listening to the last week and stuff like that. the new feature is that you can add upcoming shows. it's really a simple thing, but the registration process require you to enter the location accurately. the upshot of this is that I can say, "display all concerts fitting my profile within 30 miles of Txyen, Oslo" (which is where I live). I can also check off the concerts I will be attending, so that it shows up on the calendars of my friends. you can check my schedule here: http://www.last.fm/user/kjetilho/events/ (you have no idea how psyched I am about seeing Kristin Hersh on John Dee -- it's such a perfect small club! I even had her on my "try to set aside money to catch US tour" short list.) obviously, I have no idea how many users there are from Vancouver. (perhaps we should make an ecto group on last.fm? I welcome friends) anyway, a quick check shows up Neko Case on the 13th http://www.last.fm/event/103674 oh .. and now I realise I'm a week behind on responding! oops. > since I also don't buy online, that deprives myself of far too > much beautiful music). don't worry about buying online. make sure you use a credit card rather than a debit card to reduce risk. *if* someone defrauds you, you report the misuse within three months and VISA/MasterCard will reverse the charges. it's nothing to worry about -- and it isn't very likely you will be defrauded anyway. - -- Kjetil T.
