That tutorial was text- based with links. I've expanded and updated it to use graphics, so it might take a while to load. http://suspended-in-gaffa.com/video/subtitle_tutorial/ If anyone uses this to make their own subtitles, let me know and tell me if there's anything I should add or clarify. Being able to subtitle your own videos for Google Video is brand new, only a few months old, and as more people find out about it, I predict it's going to be a 'small b' big thing so I hope my tutorial is used and helpful. Already, the fella who wrote the program I used, DivXLand Media Subtitler, likes it so much he put a link to the tutorial on the DMS web page: http://www.divxland.org/subtitler.php (under "Quick Start Guide.") That tutorial will also work if other places like YouTube and MySpace Video start offering the option. Or maybe no one will care, I don't know. I do what I can, and it seemed a good way to help others learn how to do it *and* promote Happy at the same time. I'm hopeless, aren't I? :) Vickie - -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Music's the way, the only way I know... I had a hell of a time coming up with more than three. So I figured it'd be fun to open this up for general consumption ...who can *you* think of? Obscure is fine -- we specialize in the obscure here. :) ("That guy who plays with ___" counts ... I'm really bad at paying attention during band introductions, so I know how that goes. :) - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Jan 2007 21:46:56 -0800 From: "Jack Sutton" Subject: RE: Musical puzzle Mark O'conner Jack sutton - -----Original Message----- From: owner-ecto@smoe.org [mailto:owner-ecto@smoe.org] On Behalf Of meredith Sent: Monday, January 08, 2007 9:26 PM To: ecto Subject: Musical puzzle Hi, I was chatting with a friend this evening and she presented an interesting musical puzzle: how many musicians could I think of who are equally proficient on the guitar *and* the violin (or, more specifically, acoustic guitar and fiddle, as we were discussing Americana at the time). I always forget that this stupid software the listserv uses only replies to the sender not to the list. Hi Meredith and everyone else, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown comes to mind immediately. Only saw him once, but he played both the fiddle and guitar most excellently. Saw him at the Firehouse in Ballard (Seattle), and even the drunk in the audience who kept hollering for some Hendrix tune didn't distract from the genius of Mr. Brown.
