Okay, that sounds > bizarre, but listen to the songs and they're impossible not to love. I happened to see Art Brut live back in October on a friend's recommendation. They have a certain charm, but when their breakout hit is literally titled "We Formed a Band" then if they do a second album and it ends up having songs like "We Recorded Another Album" I suspect there's going to be something of a sophomore slump. We Are Scientists was the opener at the show I saw and I liked them more. Besides some really wacky between-song banter they had a lot less of that "one-hit wonder" smell. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Dec 2006 04:59:12 -0800 (PST) From: "Xenu's Sister" Subject: I'm on the Guardian Unlimited's blog!! I love Neko Case, and I thought this was a great album, but it just doesn't haunt me the way her past album "Blacklisted" did, and so didn't make my "list," because it seemed less necessary. If you're enjoying her work, I would definitely check that one out. It's got a much darker texture that I love. I always describe her as Loretta Lynn meets Aretha Franklin locked in solitary confinement. Her stuff with "The New Pornographers" is also awesome. Much more upbeat than my usual taste, but really addictive. CollectedSounds wrote: >1) Neko Case, Fox Confessor Brings the Flood This is one I didn't get until after I'd made my list. Dernit. (because of Kirsty) Ecto post http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/arts/ I noticed that I was next to Shane McGowan's blog about Kirsty MacColl. I have 2 flats signed by Kirsty (one to Chris and one to me) up on the wall which is probably why they used it today. When you click to go to the blog, the picture is still there. You can believe I'm taking screen shots. My name is linked to my MySpace page, and if anyone should click on it, they hear Happy's voice, and see her name. Cool. But, what a sad day. I almost feel guilty about being excited. RIP Kirsty. I miss her so much. Vickie - -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Music's the way, the only way I know... Many apologies to those who were looking forward to downloading Jonatha's brand new track, "Careful What You Wish For." It will be available in the iTunes store, beginning tomorrow, December 20th. "Careful.." is just a snippet of Jonatha's rockin' forthcoming album due out in stores on April 3rd, 2007. Thank you for your patience. Okay, even though I was on this list for years, I had never heard any of Happy's music. Then you put her music in your podcast and I heard her for the first time. I then went to your page: http://www.wretchawry.com/happy/samples/index.html I downloaded the samples in their albums and started listening to them. I would listen to one album, get addicted to one song and play it over and over again. Then listen to the next song. I still haven't made it through all the albums to listen to all the samples you posted. And I have had a very hard time getting my Korean credit card to work to buy the albums but we have it sorted out and cds are on their way. Again, thanks Vickie for introducing me to all this music. Thanks also to the rest of the people on this list who have introduced me to some great music such as Lisa Gerard. I have 5 new cds to listen to from CDBaby's $5 sale. I enjoy the discussions about music, about storing music, buying music, sometimes about books, computer programs, and all the other stuff that makes this group so wonderful. Everyone keep up the good work. Pat Tired of spam? Yahoo!
