["JoAnn Whetsell" ] Happy Video: "Into The West" (Annie Lennox cover) ["Xenu's Sister" Subject: grammy nod for imogen heap! I don't follow the Grammys much, but I did read today's NY Times article on the nominations and was shocked to read that Imogen Heap got 2 nominations, including best new artist. Congratulations to Imogen, and also to the Grammys for finally "discovering" her. From the article:"Also competing for best new artist are the R&B upstart Chris Brown and the singer Imogen Heap, who separately received a nomination for best song for motion picture or television for her song for The Chronicles of Narnia film." Dan stares blankly At his "new" I Magaphone CD from 1998, then glances over at his Frou Frou disc. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 07 Dec 2006 21:27:29 -0500 From: "JoAnn Whetsell" Subject: Re: grammy nod for imogen heap! LOL. I know. We've known her and loved her for years (and I certainly wouldn't have discovered her were it not for ecto), but this isn't the first time an artist is recognized as new after having some mainstream success. Paula Cole received a best new artist nod after releasing "This Fire" even though she had released "Harbinger" two years before. I saw later that Goldfrapp also received two nominations in the electronic/dance category for their fantastic album Supernature and the single "Ooh La La". I'd say she shows a lot of promise, but I think she's already fulfilled it... voice, songs, personality, she's got it. Here's a pic I took of her when she played in Media PA a few months back: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/ssbob/Lelia_0428_B.jpg > Date: Wed, 06 Dec 2006 13:40:52 -0800 > From: birdie > Subject: Lelia Broussard - Outstanding > > Anyone else hear her yet? > > She has a show coming up on the 13th at The Bitter End.
