The first time it was broadcast, she played "Feed the Fire" and had a short interview with Helen Leicht. This appearance, she plays "Look for the Child." Sherry ========================= Anyone? Update *** WAVES TO BOB LOVEJOY AND WOJ *** *smiles sweetly * Lookie what I found in, of all places, the ecto archives. This was from the much-loved Tape Dubbing Project (oh Doug, I miss you so): Happy Rhodes Radio Tour III Interviews of Happy Rhodes, including live performances, on 23 Oct 1994 on WKZE, 11 Nov 1994 on KIOT Santa Fe NM, and 4 Dec 1994 on WMMR Philadelphia. Submitted by woj, Bob Lovejoy, and an unknown reader of _Rhodeways_ via Sharon Nichols. I also found this: From: BINNIE@ Date: Tue, 30 May 1995 23:25:33 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Happy Rhodes at WPKN-FM Having just recently subscribed to the Ecto-digest, have been looking to see that my own message has gotten through, to no avail. Thought I'd try again. And just wanting to connect; happy to discover Ecto.....Am preparing interview I conducted with Happy Rhodes for broadcast in next few weeks. Anyone wanting info, please feel free to e-mail me at: binnie@ ===================== I know I know I know, why don't *I* have these things? I don't know. I have no idea. I am so completely blanked out on what was going on in my head at the time. Probably because I was in one of my depressions and couldn't be bothered or thought I'd get them later or...I have no frickin' idea why I don't have all of these things, but I don't, and it's up to other ectophiles to help preserve Happy's legacy for current and future fans by getting me what I don't have so I can put them all into one place. Please, while I'm on an upswing and can handle it. Please? Here's my post again, with an update about the transcription volunteers: I'm wondering if anyone might volunteer to help me transcribe a bunch of radio interviews I have. Pretty please with Happy's deep voice on top? If a few people volunteer then the work can be spread around. All these years and I've never done it because the only thing I hate worse than doing laundry is transcribing interviews, even Happy interviews. Now though, I'm going to have a new section on the Rarities page (it's not up yet) with all these interviews and I'd like to be able to offer transcripts too. Also, I'd like to give transcrips to the woman who might be writing a Happy article. I'm sure she'll listen to the interviews, but it's always nice having a transcript to refer to. Here's a list of all the radio interviews I have. If it's not listed here then I don't have it, so if YOU do, please please PLEASE send me a copy on cassette or as an mp3/wav file. I'm not listing my own interview, which of course I have. Most of the times indicate actual talking time. Most either had the music cut out when I got them (and by the way, I don't have anything written down as to who I got these from oh lo those many years ago, so if you, dear reader, sent me one of these, THANK YOU!) or I cut the music out, with one exception, the Phil James interview. The David Dye interview and the WDST interview both had Happy performing in the studio. I have a version of the David Dye with the songs and another without. The WDST is almost all in-studio music because the guy, whoever it was, didn't really ask her any questions but just joked around with her. The Phil James interview is an entity unto itself. The music is SO integrated that it would be a crime to cut it out. In a way, I prefer the bitchiness, but it isn't the greatest PR. One thing that (mildly) disturbed me about that mag was how its choice of artists had a wiff of glitzy-glam-fun-somewhat-gay-pop-culture's distance from and distaste for lesbians. I get that strongly from pop culture articles in Gay Times and Attitude.
