[Ms Heidi Maier ] Charlotte Martin question [neal copperman ] Re: Charlotte Martin question ["Jon Wesley Huff" Subject: anna ternheim Hi. The new Anna Ternheim is out. Called Separation Road,it's darker and yet still better than the debut. She'll improve our rep for only making sunny pop. My Emilie Autumn's still missing. That's what you get for signing to a teeny german label. Gorgeous artwork at her site though. Anna Maria Tired of spam? Yahoo! Still, having said that I was looking forward to the gig last night and, through a chain of circumstances, ended up going with my stepdaughter, who was not at all familiar with Thea's music. The last word, as someone so objective, should go to her, but I get the first word. Thea was good but not great, not as transcendentally brilliant as she has been on past outings. This might, of course, have something to do with the fact that she's 35 weeks pregnant, which certainly made her an interesting stage presence. Her insistence of wearing a peaked cap pulled down right above her eyes and obscuring her face in shadow for the entire gig certainly didn't help, and neither did the rabid fan behind me who insisted on singing along, word by word, to every song, even the quiet ones. Right in my ear. I would have rounded on her, and was severely tempted, but she's actually my step-niece (yep, an accidental family gathering) and I didn't want to start a family row. There were many highpoints: an early song, "My Own Private Riot" given a blistering airing, and a lovely, haunting version of "Slow Journey" from her new album, done completely solo and ending with her own voice looped and re- looped and harmonising with herself; oh, and "Heart String Blues", which I never get tired of. I felt that "We Built a Monster", the best song off of the new album, didn't quite take off as I hoped it might, and that the rhythm section were a bit pedestrian but, like I said, I wasn't in the best frame of minds or states of physicality. Oh, and the final word from my stepdaughter? She thought it was fantastic and is now a convert, wants to buy all her albums. Can't say fairer than that, really, so take it from her. - ----------------------------------------------- This mail sent through http://webmail.zoom.co.uk ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 30 Sep 2006 01:40:15 +1000 From: Ms Heidi Maier Subject: laurie anderson's "someone else's dream." hello ecto folk ... i wonder if anybody out there might have an MP3 of this that they'd be willing to send me? my copy of "the ugly one with the jewels and other stories" is currently with a friend and won't be returned to me, alas, until she returns to these parts herself. warmly, heidi. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Sep 2006 13:30:22 -0500 From: "Jon Wesley Huff" Subject: Re: anna ternheim Oh wow!
