I just had to write a little about the OUTSTANDING CocoRosie (http://www.myspace.com/ cocorosie) show I saw tonight. Talk about ecto-philic. These girls even give Bjork a run for her money, in my book. I'm so glad I went, on a whim, to see them. Wow. Easily the best show I've seen this year, and that's following a really amazing Goldfrapp show. I haven't had that many goosebumps in one show in ages! :) Anyway, i'm probably behind the loop with them, but wow. If they're coming to your hood - they're in San Fran and LA next - Worth every single cent - and made my day even better than it already was... BTW Spleen (http://www.myspace.com/mynamespleen) is also amazing! Can't remember a time since I've gushed so much. wow... Ciao, Kiri ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 06 Sep 2006 16:00:29 -0400 From: cliff Subject: cdRoots - cdEcto? Some of you folks might know I run a little online CD shop called cdRoots. (www.cdroots.com) While the bulk of the catalog is 'world music" (roots music from someplace else than where you are?), I have a small group of more pop recordings from far-flung places that some of you may be interested in listening to and investigating. I looked through the catalog this week and made a few "Ecto Recos" and put them here: http://www.cdroots.com/ecto.shtml It's only a smattering of the interesting stuff in the catalog, but I thought it might give folks a starting point and a few minutes of entertaining listening, at least. And to thank you for letting me drop a link on the list, for a while I'll give anyone on the list a small discount. If you decide to buy something, just use this as the "discount code" when you check out: ectocd That will discount your order a little....... Over and out. thanks. cliff ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Sep 2006 01:20:27 -0400 From: breinheimer@webtv.net (bill) Subject: pip pyle (ot) not sure if this will mean anything to anyone besides adam and I but I just read where great prog rock drummer pip pyle passed away last week. he had performed live just two nights earlier in a reformed hatfield and the north. I had the pleasure of seeing him years ago with gong. while not as well known as syd barrett, he was a terrific musician who will be sorely missed. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V12 #237 ***************************
