She did a throwaway bit of Bowie's "Fame" in-between songs and I can't for the life of me remember which concert. If anyone remembers and can give me any information, no matter how vague, it can help me narrow it down. Anything might help (was it at Tin Angel or another venue? Was Kelly with her singing backup? any tidbit like that). Happy often threw in bits from other songs. She did a few seconds of "And Dream Of Sheep" at the Troy Music Hall. She did a few seconds of a Hoedown tune, of Kool & the Gang's "Celebrate" and of Bobby Darin's "Beyond The Sea" at the Tin Angel. She did "Brave Sir Robin" at an Ectofest. Chris, more than me, remembers her doing the bit from "Fame" that goes from one end of the range to the other (fame fame fame fame fame...), but no details about which show. If I have it and it's decent quality, I want to extract it out. Btw, they looove Happy at VideoSift! I put up a few more there. Go vote :). In this world, laurel-wreathed maidens sit on the wooden porches of their mountain cabins, weaving their colorful tapestry and humming tales of doomed love. Nadler's second album is sparse, but the two main instruments-her delicate, yet intricate guitar and her crystalline soprano fill it up. The songs she writes are part Appalachian murder ballads, part the musings of a young girl who's absorbed the works of Poe. This dark, dreamy album is an artifact from the Bronte sibling's imagined world, full of ghastly beauty and tragic romance. As I'm typing this, I'm listening live to BBC Radio 2, where Thea, Nigel and crew are Mark Radcliffe's guests. She's playing 'Contessa' right now from the new CD. Prior to that song, they were discussing her pregnancy. Do tune in on-line if you're not in the Radio 2 listening area. Ellen "Literature stops in 1100.
