I read an anecdote about Elaine May directing "Mikey and Nicky", and she was doing a shot with Peter Falk and John Cassavettes walking down the street. The cameras rolled, Falk and Cassavettes walked, turned the corner and were gone. The cameras rolled. And kept rolling. Finally, a nervous crewmember yelled "Cut!" and May hit the roof. "Who said that? Nobody says that but me!" The crew member gestured to the corner the two actors had disappeared round. "But they're gone!" he said. "Yes," said May. "But....they MIGHT COME BACK" And that's how I felt about Syd. I knew he was gone. But I always thought that he might come back. Big goodbyes, too, to the great Barnard Hughes, character actor par excellence who made me laugh in "Doc" on TV all those years ago. I was also lucky to see him on stage in NYC in Friel's "Translations" and he was brilliant. I tend to be a little quiet on the lists (almost invisible you might say) but I do listen and take suggestions that I hear on ecto and translate them onto the site for all to read about. It took a couple of tries to actually reach Happy but I think that things are moving along now in regards to the interview. The site is still young (Sept. 2005) so I hope to build it up in the coming years with more original material and a lot more reviews and interviews. Always feel free to drop me a line and let me know if I've missed a great new artist that should be up there. Ah, you got in contact with her...great! > Meanwhile wander about the site and let me know > what you think. Well, not only is it a fantastic site, I was floored to see a link to Suspended In Gaffa right there on the front page, right under your picture! I think the English term is "Gobsmacked." I didn't pay to put it there, and I didn't know about it until I just now looked. WOW! Thank you Michael! And yes, Sleepthief is pretty wonderful. Justin Elswick likes Happy too. Both times I put up Happy's page, when I first started it and after it was deleted, *HE* sent an add request to be on Happy's Friends list. Very cool.
