Beth Sorrentino: vocals, piano Alice Bierhorst: drums, backing vocals Byron Isaacs: bass Pete Galub: guitar, backing vocals Greta Gertler: backing vocals pretty excellent setlist, i'd say. songs from each of suddenly, tammy!'s albums ("mt. rushmore" was totally unexpected), including the unreleased comet, plus a few songs from her solo album (alas, only available on itunes and emusic), and one, "hazel", which has not been released at all. the set was pretty similar to what she played at the seven year itch show, with a couple of additions. byron didn't know "beautiful dream" but beth taught him the chords, singing their names over the first couple measures, which was very cute. so, a very pleasant evening! hooray! woj ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 09 Jul 2006 13:17:07 -0400 From: wojbearpig Subject: Re: KY in NYC at KF one time at band camp, Michael Curry said: > From the Knitting Factory mailshot: > > >> Wednesday, July 12th >> >> Kristeen Young, Fabulous Entourage >> >> Main Space 9:00 PM **Shes opening for Morrisseys UK shows, so you >> know she is good! ** lest anyone get the wrong idea, this show has been cancelled since KY is opening for morrissey in italy later this week. damn you morrissey!!! ;) woj n.p. suddenly, tammy! - comet ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 09 Jul 2006 14:24:11 -0400 From: wojbearpig Subject: [Fwd: [LH] 1978 Australian TV footage] for KaTefan ectophiles who no longer keep an eye on love-hounds... - -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [LH] 1978 Australian TV footage Date: Sun, 9 Jul 2006 13:51:28 +1000 From: P To: rec-music-gaffa@moderators.isc.org Newsgroups: rec.music.gaffa Kate's lost performance of Hammer Horror on ABC-TV (Australia)'s "Countdown" has been found, albeit in slightly dodgy VHS quality. However in the case of a rarity such as this, quality ceases to be an issue! This was Kate's only visit to Australia. She apparently devised and rehearsed the Hammer Horror routine about 3 hours before the show aired, then performed it with a local dancer LIVE on TV. She made a few minor adjustments to it for the film clip but the nucleus of this amazing performance was created by this amazing performer virtually on the spot on the day, and only lucky "Countdown" viewers (of which I was one) have ever seen it. It was never repeated, and it's believed that the master tape for this appearance in 1978 was erased at some point in the early 1980s. I clearly remember watching this on the night and believed I would never see it again. I'm amazed, thrilled and delighted to see it again for the first time since it was aired 28 years ago. If whoever put this up is reading this, thank you so much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sIA-PpKfGI&search=kate%20bush%20countdown ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Jul 2006 14:09:39 -0700 (PDT) From: "Xenu's Sister" Subject: Re: [Fwd: [LH] 1978 Australian TV footage] - --- wojbearpig wrote: > for KaTefan ectophiles who no longer keep an eye on > love-hounds... > > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: [LH] 1978 Australian TV footage > Date: Sun, 9 Jul 2006 13:51:28 +1000 > From: P > To: rec-music-gaffa@moderators.isc.org > Newsgroups: rec.music.gaffa > > Kate's lost performance of Hammer Horror on ABC-TV > (Australia)'s "Countdown" has been found, Lost? Wow, we've had this on video for a couple of decades. It was being traded around along with everything else that was being traded in those early days. I had no idea it was supposed to be rare. Our version even has the terribly embarrassing interview with Kate and Leif Garrett too. This was even shown at the Kate Bush Fan Convention in Winnepeg (Bush-Con '84), so it can't be *that* rare. I also thought it was on one of the Love- Hounds Collections. Damn. Learn something new every day. (i can't check my tapes since they're loaned out to someone right now.) i forwarded the note before watching the clip (gotta stop doing that!) but it did look a little familiar once i watched it. i think i would have remembered the leif garrett parts but maybe that was not included in the lhc. speaking of which, is there a listing of the lhc's contents anywhere on the web? i can't seem to find one anywhere.... woj ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Jul 2006 20:29:46 -0400 From: Jeffrey Burka Subject: Re: [Fwd: [LH] 1978 Australian TV footage] > speaking of which, is there a listing of the lhc's contents > anywhere on the web? i can't seem to find one anywhere... good question...I just pulled my copies of the tapes and rediscovered that the back of the tape B box got damaged and is somewhat unreadable. I found a link via google (to a .doc file that isn't on the server anymore, but which google can serve up via its cache as an html document. however, it doesn't seem to quite match what's on the back of my boxes!) anyway, rather than type it all up again, here are the links... tape a: http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:kuBK2Xv1zA0J:gaffa.mit.edu/stuff/ lhc/old/LHC-Tape-A-Notes.doc+%22lovehounds+collection%22 +abba&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1 tape b: http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:NL2MPT5LunwJ:gaffa.mit.edu/stuff/ lhc/old/LHC-Tape-B-Notes.doc+%22lovehounds+collection% 22&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=4 As for the HH video, I also thought it seemed familiar (though it's hard to imagine I wouldn't remember, with certainty, seeing Leif Garrett introduce KaTe!), but it's not on either of the Lovehound Collection tapes. Which makes me wonder if it's actually on the Katetopia collection. While I had no trouble digging out a katetopia vhs tape (somewhat amazing that I knew where to look...and found them!) it doesn't have a listing of contents. Meanwhile, I gather |>oug moved a bunch of the video materials to dvd and released it as "eat the video." You might want to try searching for a torrent of the ISOs... I guess I should toss out a thanks to Vickie 'n Chris...I'd forgotten I had a lot of this material and it's fabulous stuff! jeff ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V12 #180 ***************************
