The album entitled Elysium for the Brave weaves Ali's many influences into a haunting tapestry of atmospheric rock, electronic and global sounds. Singing predominantly in English for the first time, the songs are based on lyrics written by Azam herself and reveal a poetic lyricism heard only in glimpses in her previous works. Helping to seamlessly bring all of these diverse sounds together is a talented cast of musicians which includes King Crimson's rhythm section of Trey Gunn and Pat Mastelotto, Persian classical violinist Kiavash Nourai, Loga Ramin Torkian and Carmen Rizzo, Azam's collaborators in Niyaz, and noted film composers Tyler Bates and Jeff Rona, the latter of whom is known for his collaborations with Dead Can Dance. Azam Ali's Elysium for the Brave is set for release on July 25 on Six Degrees Records. (SIG 8 is supposedly up) I changed the DNS Nameservers for http://suspended-in-gaffa.com to point to my new account, and though they told me it would take a couple of days to work, it seems to be working fine now, at least for me. Let me know if anyone else has problems. Fingers tightly crossed that it all works for everybody else and not just me...Suspended In Gaffa is now on a different host, and using the urls of http://suspended-in-gaffa.com and http://suspendedingaffa.com should both work. For now, http://suspended-in-gaffa.*net* is still at the old host. I still have the rss file at the old place, but the new, updated for SIG 8, rss is at the new place. Does anyone know if I should delete the old one? Will it mess up people who've already used it to subscribe? SIG 8 features me nervously talking, a little too loudly, but most importantly, the music of Dave Stewart featuring Barbara Gaskin, Komeda, Takako Minekawa, Humpe Humpe, The Boswell Sisters, Eva Ayllon, Anna Domino, Happy Rhodes, The Shakers, Steeleye Span, Sheila Chandra, 10,000 Maniacs, Toyah, Hector Zazou featuring Anneli Drecker, and Siouxsie and the Banshees. This was a show that started a bit silly then got somewhat more normal. Ish. This show was #6, then got moved to #7, then #8. I figured I'd better get it out there before it ended up #20. I still think I pronounced Humpe Humpe wrong, but boy did I feel silly when I realized that Maddy (Prior) very helpfully sings the words "Cam Ye O'er Frae France" in the song. In the very first line too! *slaps forehead*. I'm not an idiot, I just play one on the Internet. But I have a cat, good taste in music, and I'm a Happy Rhodes fan, which counts a lot for karma.
