I don't know that this would necessarily be an improvement for everyone, but in my case the shows are too long. My portable MP3 player is a little Flash based device that doesn't have much memory. I guess I've become used to the 20-40 minute podcast format. At that size I can "program" a variety of shows on my little player and it is easier to navigate from show to show. I guess I just need to break down and get the kids new iPod's so I can use the old Mini. > Happy *WILL* always be in every show. That's got to be a given. > That's not going to change unless I do a specific theme Themed shows sounds real interesting. I remember listening to WJKL in Elgin back in the 70's when they had a format that included themed shows. Each set would have some connection and it was fun trying to figure out the theme and then what songs might be coming up that matched the theme. > I am glad that there are people > who are enjoying the songs. Yes, yes! I really enjoy the music. Keep them coming. I may not be able to get Ecto on the old fashioned radio, but I can create my own Ecto radio using my MP3 player and a little FM transmitter. I love driving along and suddenly picking up the music from the iPod FM transmitter from someone in the next car. Makes me wonder what people think when they pick up SIG from my transmitter. > They're fun to do (well, except for > the dreaded web pages). > I was going to ask what you use to generate your pages but I can see now that you are doing it by hand. Thanks for the little extra Subject: Amy Millan delurking for a second here with a question.... I recently heard a song on the CBC Radio 3 podcast by a singer named Amy Millan. I googled her, and her official site (www.amymillan.com) has a free download of a song called "Skinny Boy," which is lovely, but little other information. From what I can gather, she's from Montreal, has played with Broken Social Scene, and has just released her debut album, called Honey From the Tombs. But that's about it - and the only place I can find to buy the album in the US is amazon.com, which has it as an import for over $20. As nice as the one song is, that's a bit more than I'm willing to invest in an artist I don't know well. So I was curious - does anyone on Ecto know her work? If so, how is the album? Can anyone find a way to guy the album in the states that isn't quite so expensive? Also, I recommend checking out the download of Skinny Boy - like I said, it's a beautiful song. I suspect a lot of folks on Ecto would love it. Your amazon.com account info & password will work on amazon.ca (and all the other flavours of amazon. I've ordered from most of them. If you want to avoid amazon, there's always www.chaptersindigo.ca It's still corporate and has its issues, but it's Canadian http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/search?keywords=amy%20millan&pageSize=10 It's a little pricier, though. I really like http://www.maplemusic.com and will buy there if I can, but unfortunately they don't handle Amy Millan. - --Neile ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Jun 2006 20:51:26 -0400 From: DanS <2005.carnivore99@verizon.net> Subject: Re: Amy Millan Amy Millan's Honey From the Tombs is due for U.S. domestic release on August 22nd I believe, so you might be able to get it cheaper than buying it as an import, if you can wait.
