The topic of Happy's next CD often comes up here and in those discussions I'm often reminded of a few of RF's aphorisms; 1. We may do whatever we like, providing we can pay the bill. 2. Never become so popular that the public take an interest in you. 3. When a record company makes a mistake, the artist pays for it. When a manager makes a mistake, the artist pays for it. When the artist makes a mistake, the artist pays for it. Bear in mind that RF is now 60 and has been a professional musician since the '60s; I think his experience bears some respect. It's also true that his view of playing music before an audience borders on the religious. It's sad, in a way, for fans when an artist in any medium stops pursuing a career in that field, but on reflection, it's surprising it happens as infrequently as it does. The podcast is Photography related so your enjoyment mileage may vary, but it was fun to hear Happy playing in my MP3 player in an unexpected place. The album 'Smoke like perfume' might not appeal to you if 'Raven' is all you've heard. Her radio show was her most unique release, and from then on she wrote more and more conventional stuff (which I still like, but you know what the songs are going to do, and then they do it just like you'd expect). Wish her opera thingie would come out! Karen ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V12 #152 ***************************
