I listened to the Crazy on youtube.com and was intrigued. Especially by how good the song sounds even when slowed down and played as more of a soul/Motown-style song. I picked up the CD today and am even more intrigued. There is quite a variety of music styles on this CD. From the Motown sound of Crazy to the great cover of Violent Femmes' Gone Daddy Gone this is just one great CD. I'm not sure that I like everything on it - that will take another few listens. But it is one of the most interesting CDs that I have heard in a long time. In the past I would have stayed away from this artist just because I would have assumed it was rap/hip hop - a genre I don't usually like much. I'm glad I didn't. I've been feeling in a bit of a rut musically for the last few years. Even though I have found some great artists, such as Erin McKeown, Rachael Sage, and Sarah Harmer - and of course, the amazing new Kate Bush release - my collection has felt stagnant. Today, I actually bought 3 new CDs, which is something I don't often do of late. In addition to the Gnarls Barkley, I also tracked down The Blistering Sun by Rachael Sage, On Your Shore by Charlotte Martin, and found a new to me CD by Lisa Gerrard (with Patrick Cassidy). Hopefully, some of this new music, along with a newfound appreciation for music radio when I recently started listening to WXPN will pull me out of the music rut I've been in. I'd also like to thank everyone who posts here for all of the great music info that you keep posting here. I've been a (mostly) lurker on this list for a lot of years and have to say that I've found more good music here than any other single source that I can think of. - -Rodney ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V12 #127 ***************************
