I went there expecting to see a "perfect" site and when I saw that it had what I call a "locked front door" I left. What business (and yes, pedaling your music IS a business) would lock their front door? I can only assume that Doug meant this as a joke. An example of a really bad design (?) And I have a Windows computer, Flash, Active X, etc but I block pop ups (what kind of person designs a site in pop-up? please enlighten me!) and I refuse to use IE. But still not only will I not visit her page, but I don't care anymore about her music. Because she basically told me to go away. So I did. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 May 2006 12:03:02 -0700 (PDT) From: "Xenu's Sister" Subject: Happy's page BACK UP...please send add request I just posted this as a Bulletin, but in case some of you who are interested don't read your Bulletins, or aren't on my personal Friends list (and why are you not?), here you go: ================================================= After a couple of days of utter depression, and getting no answers from MySpace as to why Happy's page was deleted in the first place, I'm trying again. Since it is an authorized page, I'm going to assume technical error. I've put another page back up at http://www.myspace.com/happyrhodes To read my thoughts on the matter, read the blog I just put up there. (Quick, before I get embarrassed by it and delete it!) I have complete lists of the names and myspace addresses of everyone who's ever sent me an add request to Happy's account, and everyone I've ever sent an add request to from there, but it would help if everyone who reads this goes to the page and sends an add request, so I can just mark you off the list. Happy had over 4000 Friends and I hope to eventually get them all back. I'll be starting with those who sent add requests in the past few months. There's a lot of work ahead, so please forgive me if I don't get back to you with a personal thanks. Please accept a thanks in advance, on behalf of both Happy and myself. Since all of Happy's Comments were wiped out, please feel free to leave one so she'll have something to read (besides my whining) when she comes back from her honeymoon. As before, I don't accept html banners and I'll delete any plain "Thanks for the add" Comments. I appreciate them, but I'd rather read and have others read reactions to Happy's voice and music. I'm saying this in advance because people have actually kicked Happy off their Friends list because I wouldn't accept a vanilla "Thanks for the add" Comment. Thanks for your notes of concern and caring. Losing a MySpace page I spent several hundred hours on over the past few months is certainly not the end of the world, but oh my did it hurt. I can only assume that Doug meant this as a joke. An example of > a really bad design (?) The Subject line of this thread included the word "favorite", so I included this site. It's one of my favorites. Sorry that it doesn't meet your expectations of perfection. And "bad" design is a matter of opinion. Me, I think it's nicely designed. Sure, it makes you jump through hoops, but hey, that's by design (grin). Not everyone is as opinionated or picky as some of the people on this list. - --Doug ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 May 2006 22:53:27 -0400 From: Dave Subject: Re: happy myspace page It would be nice if myspace would keep a backup of profiles they delete for a period of time so that they could put them back if it's shown that they messed up, I wouldn't expect it from them though.. As for sending bulletins... from what I gather band profiles by default don't receive bulletins from their friends list, they have to change a setting, and most of them don't, otherwise they'd be up to their ears in bulletins, so seeing as most of the people that were on Happy's friends list were bands, I'd say most would never see any buletins you sent. Perhaps I've been misinformed about this, or perhaps they still get bulletins from other band profiles.. I don't know. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 May 2006 23:59:44 -0400 From: Michael Curry Subject: Some Sleater-Kinney U.S. summer tour dates from sleater-kinney.com : July 29 | Louisville KY @ Forecastle Festival More info: www.forecastlefest.com/ Tickets: Ear-X-Tacy or Ticketweb.com 31 | Philadelphia PA @ the Starlight Ballroom Tickets: Spaceboy Music or ticketweb.com August 1 | Washington DC @ the 9:30 Tickets: The 9:30 Club Box Office or tickets.com 2 | NYC @ Webster Hall Tickets: Mercury Lounge box office or ticketweb.com or bowerypresents.com 4 | Chicago, IL Lollapalooza @ Grant Park More info: www.lollapalooza.com ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V12 #122 ***************************
