Or scenario #6, which I think is the most likely: MySpace deleted the page because it's a fan-made site and they're assuming some sort of copyright violation even though there isn't one here. I've heard of this happening before -- some musicians I know have gotten their own pages deleted because some drone at MySpace didn't bother to check and just assumed the page was violating copyright. I was working on it when I found that Happy had been deleted. I still don't know what happened with that and I don't want to try and re-build it until I hear from MySpace. I'm not going to go out searching for Friends like I did with Happy (though I had planned to send a Bulletin out the 4000+ people on Happy's Friends list, sigh), so MMOH's page seems likely to stay small. I plan to add more to the page when I can. http://www.myspace.com/marymargaretoharafan Vickie ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 May 2006 11:24:11 -0700 From: "Sue Trowbridge" Subject: Re: favourite or perfect websites for unfamous musicians On 5/11/06, Doug wrote: > www.susanrobkin.com Sorry, but seeing this (and no info at all about the artist) on the front page of a web site is pretty much a deal breaker for me: You will need to disable popup stoppers to view this site! I've sent MySpace a screen capture where I say (said) on the page that it's a fan page but with Happy's participation (she nixed a picture I was going to use) and blessings. Now see, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the MMOH page disappeared one day, but Happy's a different story. The smallest bit of research should show the bond we have. I would hope that they'd wait until they were contacted by the artist before taking down pages (which is why I thought of Mr Canada Man because if he or someone he knows contacted MySpace saying "My name is H* R* and someone is using my name without my permission" that might have triggered a deletion, and as I've discovered and can't really talk about, Mr. Canada Man has a friend who's every bit of obsessive about him as I am about She Who Sings Beautifully and I wouldn't put a letter to MySpace past him), but if that's what happened, maybe they just do searches for the word "fan" which seems kinda stupid. I have no idea. However, if BANDS are having their pages deleted, then someone really is being very stupid. They should go chase pedophiles and leave bands alone. Happy's MySpace page will rise again! I hate that I lost 89 pages of mail and all my blog writings and responses, but I'm thrilled that I was able to save Happy's Comments, and have the list of everyone on her Friends list.
