Riffing (or outright stealing, depending on your point of view) on the idea of the guy who who put up "The Million Dollar Homepage" (http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/), a group calling themselves the Indie Music Fund is starting a page that is dedicated to Indie musicians. Supposedly, the money raised will go to help fund 5 Indie musicians. http://www.indiemusicfund.com/ Now, it's highly unlikely that Happy would end up being one of those 5, but if we got together and bought space on the page, we could get Happy some publicity. The publicity on the Million Dollar Homepage was insanely outrageous, and this, though a follow-up and not original, is sure to get some notice. Who knows, a group of fans buying pixels for their artist might get some notice too. Ecto is one of the oldest music mailing lists on the net. That alone is notable. I heard about this from the Indie-Music newsletter, and word will start to spread fast. If we're going to do it, we should do it quick, before Happy ends up at the bottom right hand corner where no one will see it. The biggest problem is that, even though it's my idea, I don't want to be in charge of this. Ideally, someone with a credit card and PayPal can take payments from Ectophiles, then use their credit card to buy the pixels. I can't do that. I have PayPal and a credit card, but my card is a low-limit debit card, and besides, I don't particularly want to handle money. Second, I'm not a graphic artist. It would be great to have someone on board who could come up with a graphic that clearly shows her name in the amount of pixels we end up with. Here's the FAQ: http://www.indiemusicfund.com/faq.php "Ads are sold in minimum blocks of 10 x 10 (100 pixels) at a cost of $.50 per pixel ($50)." Happy's got an album coming out. She needs the advance publicity that such a thing could generate. Thoughts? Ideas? Anyone? I could start it off by donating $25.00. That's half a block right there! We are stunned, shocked, catatonic and over stimulated about this, as you can imagine. If you live close to Ireland, Dublin is sold out, but Killarney tickets are still available....please go to www.morrissey-solo.com yes, we are unsigned, with no agent...playing ground level clubs....and now this....wonders of wonders...Morrissey loves us!!!! If you live in St. Louis....please still go to the Hi-Pointe, see whatever wonderful band is playing in our place, and bring Lisa (the booker) cakes and things. Have a great week. We will. - -KRISTEENYOUNG ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Apr 2006 16:29:08 -0700 (PDT) From: "Xenu's Sister" Subject: MySpace discoveries of the day To heck with Rupert and feeling guilty because I'm "supporting" him. There's so much great music on MySpace, it's an insane amount of riches. I find oohaahs! every single day. Here are some I found in the last 24 hours. I'll just list them and maybe someone with better descriptive abilities can actually talk about them. Micropixie (fascinating) http://www.myspace.com/micropixie Sol Seppy (gorgeous) http://www.myspace.com/solseppy Fasciani (interesting) http://www.myspace.com/fasciani Paris Motel (fun!) http://www.myspace.com/parismotel The Tiny (fun! fun!) http://www.myspace.com/thetinythetiny (the music, and a video both start at the same time, so you'll have to turn one of them off, or else it sounds totally weird) jaspergate (perfect pop) http://www.myspace.com/jaspergate Some long-time favorites now have MySpace pages. These are official pages. I even got a personal letter from Anne Marie: Bel Canto http://www.myspace.com/belcantonorway Anneli Drecker http://www.myspace.com/annelidrecker Anne Marie Almedal (from Velvet Belly!) http://www.myspace.com/annemariealmedal Vickie - -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Music, all I hear is music, guaranteed to please... I'm a bit shocked that her name is so prominent on that poster (THANK YOU for it!). One of the greatest voices in music today, and not a note of it is hears. *shakes head* Ah well, *SOMEDAY* a filmmaker is going to discover Happy and use her well. (ooops, there goes my spirit-sapping, soul-crushing optimism again). I can't remember if I posted about this, but Happy's music might possibly maybe it's possible could be but don't quote me be used in a sci-fi/horror short that's being made. She Has Been Contacted, so we'll see. When it's all finished the director will see what Happy song(s) fit, if any. If anything concrete comes out about it, I'll post. No go on the pixels, eh? Ok. It was an idea. Vickie - --- Rolf Peukert wrote: > Hi, > > looks like the movie "Short Cut to Nirvana" opens in Germany > in April. > Has anybody heard the soundtrack CD of it yet?
