He went on to write songs with Eric Idle on the latter's solo projects and the result from that was the "Rutles" project (the "pre-fab four"). If you've never seen "All You Need is Cash", the NBC tv-film, try and track it down. A number of the original Saturday Night Live players appear on it, as well as cameos from George Harrison, Paul Simon, Mick Jagger and Ron Wood. It's very funny, very clever and has some wonderful Beatle-ish tunes. Innes recently revived the Rutles, without Idle, releasing "Archeology" at the same time as the Beatles "Anthology" came out. I bet I was being redundant, wasn't I? In it's ever-so-brief coverage of the event this morning (11 sec), NPR's Morning Edition featured Kate Bush's "Pi." Found a record by one Tina Dickow which was called Fuel. Standard singer-songwriter with electronic production stuff. Seems that she's none other than Tina Dico. The more user-friendly name is for international purposes apparently. the cd didn't blow me away but was worth it if you can find it cheaply. Anna Tired of spam? Yahoo! It does, indeed. Unfortunately, the warranty expired years ago. Actually, watcha got here is an ignorance of context and...well, just plain ignorance. After all these years of declared fandom, I didn't even know that he wrote Brave Sir Robin! Boy, is my face red. So that's at least two of us and I'm fairly confident we could find a third ignoramus somewhere out there if we really tried :) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Mar 2006 09:40:22 -0800 From: "Sue Trowbridge" Subject: Re: neil innes On 3/14/06, adamk@zoom.co.uk wrote: > I may have misinterpreted your, "some guy called 'Neil Innes'" so I apologise > in advance if I'm being redundant but: Neil Innes was one of the forces (along > with Viv Stanshall) behind the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band (hmm, bet I got the name > wrong) and went on to collaborate not only with Monty Python (he performs on > their Live from NYC Civic Centre album, and I KNOW I got that title wrong). Neal Innes is going to be touring again -- he's playing in San Francisco on May 23 at Cobb's: http://www.cobbscomedyclub.com/calendar.html My husband (a huge Rutles fan) and I went to see him last time he was in town, about a year and a half ago, and he puts on a brilliantly funny show.
