Well, great minds think alike... I approached her afterwards and asked her about her website and recordings. She wasn't selling anything at the gig (if she was, I'd have bought it like a shot, which I rarely do at gigs) but she says her previous one, Bootlace, is available in various places (Amazon has it for #13, which is a bit steep for me) but she added that this was her "band" album, whereas most of the stuff she performed that night was "solo" and would be on a forthcoming release. That's definitely something to look out for. On a completely unrelated note....well, now McLoud has ridden into his last sunset. That's three TV icons from my youth in as many days. Well, they say these things happen in threes, but if I were Tim Conway, I'd be bricking myself... adam k. - ----------------------------------------------- This mail sent through http://webmail.zoom.co.uk ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Feb 2006 11:49:33 -0500 From: breinheimer@webtv.net (bill) Subject: Re: kate st. john I don't know about her newer work but one thing that I did not see mentioned was her time spent with the group Channel Light Vessel. Other members of the group were Roger Eno, Bill Nelson and Laraaji. They put out two albums (of which I am aware), Automatic and Excellent Spirits, both back in the 90's. They tended to get labelled as new age but were much more interesting and varied than that would imply. Not surprisingly (with multiple songwriters) there is too much variety to easily pin down the music. I like them very much but then again I am one of those rarest of things, a Bill Nelson fan ( I own most of what he has put out, which by itself is enough to constitute a collection). Has occasional ecto moments but not enough to belong to the genre. Good stuff anyway. np: Marianne Faithull- Blazing Away ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Feb 2006 12:12:50 -0500 From: meredith Subject: For the Philly 'philes: great show tomorrow, 3/1 Hi, It's been a while since Happy has played in Philadelphia, so there's not been much opportunity for the Philadelphia ectophiles to get together ... but tomorrow night one of our own, Rachael Sage is playing at World Cafe Live so here's your chance to reconvene. :) She's the late show at Upstairs Live, starting at 9:30pm. (The whole thing should be over by 11, since we know it's a school night.) It's the much-vaunted full band featuring ecto legend Dean Sharp on drums, Russ Johnson on trumpet and Todd Sickafoose (of Noe Venable and Ani DiFranco fame, among other things) on bass. It rawks. (I know I pimp these things shamelessly, but since I'm at the shows I do want to meet up with as many ectophiles as I can on our travels ... it's been ages since I've seen you Phillypholk, so please come on down! I hear it's a great venue. http://www.worldcafelive.com for complete info and to buy tix.) - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V12 #56 **************************
